My most recent customers had had enough with these built-ins. I helped them out getting rid of them and helping them to reclaim some space in their living room while adding some baseboard, cove mouldings on the sides of the fireplace, and some crown moulding to finish it off.

The importance of properly cleaning and priming your walls after wallpaper removal cannot be overstated. Here is a prime example of non-adhesion due to improper prep work. Also, a couple of corners that have cracked over time getting some new life by means of re-taping. (And yes, I will be removing and prepping behind the wall plates.)
