Gooooodmorning everyone!

WHY DOES V.A.R.S. NEVER CHARGE FOR RESCUES?

Because we believe every animal deserves a chance to get home safely, regardless of their family's ability to pay.

V.A.R.S. – Volunteer Animal Retrieval Specialists is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity serving Modesto and surrounding communities. Our mission is to rescue cats stranded in trees and other inaccessible places, helping reunite them with the families who love them.

We don't charge rescue fees. We never want the cost of a rescue to be the reason someone hesitates to ask for help.

Instead, we depend on the generosity of our community, donations, and people willing to share our mission so we can continue helping animals in need.

Update: Raider is safely out of the tree and back indoors. The rescue video will be posted soon!

Original: V.A.R.S. is on site in Modesto, CA, for Raider!

Raider isn’t usually an outdoor cat, but he got scared during his latest outing and has been missing for about a day and a half. His owner could hear him meowing from a neighbor’s yard, but the dense tree made it difficult to see where he was.

We’ve located Raider in the tree and are working to get him safely back home! We’ll share another update once we have more news.

V.A.R.S. provides free animal retrievals to residents within our service area, made possible by donations. To learn more about our work or support future rescues, visit www.varsca.com.

Happy Monday afternoon! This was meant to go out early this morning to kick off the work week, but the day completely got away from me. Even though the morning has passed, the sentiment remains the same. If you are in a relationship where one of you wakes up so early that you do not get to say goodbye in the morning, send this video to your partner right now as an afternoon reminder that you are thinking of them and that you care.

Huge thank you to Momma Jen's Fosters Cat Rescue!

Back in September, we needed urgent help with a rescue situation, and the amazing team at Momma Jens Fosters Cat Rescue stepped right up without hesitation. They were completely willing to help and provide support right when it mattered most.

We are so deeply grateful for organizations like this that work tirelessly and are always ready to answer the call for animals in need. Please help us share the word about the amazing work they do.

They have adoption events happening all throughout October at PetSmart on Sisk Road in Modesto from 11 AM to 4 PM. You can also browse their available cats or support their mission at www.mommajensfosters.org or by scanning the QR code in the image.

Thank you, Momma Jens Fosters, for your dedication and for being there when we reached out. You are absolute heroes.

Sadness has been safely brought down from the redwood tree in Visalia.

She had been stranded for nearly 48 hours after a dog spooked her into the tree. Her family described her as an extremely sweet and loving 8-year-old cat who had never shown aggression.

The team made the trip to Visalia to help Sadness, and we’re happy to share an update on how the rescue went and how she’s doing now.

Thank you to Sadness’s family for trusting V.A.R.S. to help bring her home safely.

V.A.R.S. is a donation-funded nonprofit providing animal retrieval services throughout our service area. To request assistance for an animal stranded in a tree or other elevated location, visit www.varsca.com.
