Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator
Company Overview:
We are a growing heavy civil construction company specializing in earthwork, site development, and underground utilities. Our team focuses on moving dirt efficiently and safely while delivering high-quality infrastructure projects.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator with strong GPS machine control knowledge to join our team. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and capable of operating a variety of heavy equipment to complete grading, excavation, and utility installation projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, graders, and loaders
Perform mass grading, fine grading, and excavation work
Utilize GPS machine control systems (Topcon, Trimble, or similar)
Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade stakes
Assist with underground utility installation (water, sewer, storm drain)
Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Work effectively with supervisors and crew members to meet project deadlines
Qualifications:
Minimum 3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in civil/site work
Proven experience with GPS machine control systems
Ability to read and understand construction plans and elevations
Experience in grading and utility work preferred
Strong work ethic and reliability
Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)
Work Environment:
Outdoor construction sites in varying weather conditions
Physically demanding work environment
Full-time position with potential overtime

Tom Hansen, the dedicated estimator at Middleton Construction, has a soft spot that’s just as strong as the Projects he bids. For the third time now, a stray dog has wandered up to the equipment yard as if it knew exactly where to find him. The first two rescues were fittingly named P*e Wee and Grader, and they quickly traded the uncertainty of life on the streets for the comfort of a loving home. When the most recent stray showed up—dusty, hungry, and hopeful—Tom didn’t hesitate. True to tradition, he named him Dozer, keeping the construction theme alive.
At home, Tom and his wife Penny welcomed Dozer with open arms, just as they had the others. Thanks to their patience and kindness, Dozer quickly settled in and now gets along great with all the other pets. The Hansens have built more than just projects over the years—they’ve built a reputation for compassion. Around Middleton Construction, it’s no surprise anymore when a stray finds its way to the yard. Somehow, they always seem to know that Tom Hansen is there.
