Good morning, Gulf Coast.

New week, and the heat isn't backing off. If anything it's settling in deeper.

This is the part of summer where your AC is running pretty much all day. Nothing wrong with that, it's what it's built for. But it does mean any little issue gets pushed to the front fast. A system that was "fine" in May can start showing its age once it's working this hard, this often.

If you've noticed your house taking longer to cool, or one room that just won't get comfortable, or your bill creeping up for no clear reason, those are worth paying attention to.

People always talk about the heat down here, but honestly? It's the humidity that gets you.

You can have your AC running and your house at a decent temperature, but if it still feels sticky and damp, that's a moisture problem. Your AC pulls some humidity out of the air, but when it's as bad as it gets here, sometimes it needs help.

That's where a dehumidifier comes in. It works with your system to take that heavy, muggy feeling out of your home. Makes a bigger difference than people expect.

If your house feels clammy even with the AC going, give us a call. There's a fix for that.

Halfway through the week and the heat's holding steady. No surprise there.

Quick question for you. When did you last change your air filter?

It's such a small thing, but it makes a big difference. A clogged filter makes your system work harder than it should, runs your bills up, and over time can lead to bigger problems. Two minutes to check, a few bucks to replace.

Real Talk About Old Systems

Good morning, Gulf Coast.

Here's something we run into all the time this time of year.

Somebody's got a unit that's 12, 15, sometimes pushing 20 years old. It still runs, so they keep it. And honestly, we get that. If it's working, why mess with it?

But here's what usually happens. That old system starts costing more than people realize. Higher power bills every month. A repair here, a repair there. And on the hottest day of the summer, that's when it finally decides it's done.

We're not saying run out and replace your system today. But if yours is getting up there in age and you've been throwing money at repairs, it might be worth a conversation. Sometimes replacing makes more sense than patching. Sometimes it doesn't. We'll tell you straight either way.

And right now, a new system comes with a free air purifier, so there's that too.
