Clean gutters do more than prevent overflow — they're one of your best defenses against ice dams this winter. As leaves pile up this fall, it's worth making sure your gutters are clear and functioning properly before the snow flies. If not, we can help with new installation or repairs.

Call 612-722-1448 to schedule gutter service.

Minnesota winters aren't easy on roofs. Freeze-thaw cycles, ice dams, and heavy snowfall can accelerate wear faster than in most states — which is why annual inspections matter here more than almost anywhere else. Catching small issues early can add years to your roof's life.

Call 612-722-1448 to schedule your roof inspection.

When you hire a roofing contractor, you're not just buying a roof. You're buying a relationship with a company that will stand behind their work when something unexpected happens — months or even years down the road.

D.S. Bahr Construction installs roofing products from GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed — manufacturers known for strong material warranties. But the installer matters just as much as the product. Manufacturer warranties often require certified installation. And when there's a problem, you need a contractor who actually picks up the phone.

That's what a warranty actually looks like. That's the D.S. Bahr standard.

Before you put away the patio furniture and call the season done, take a few minutes to walk your deck with fresh eyes. Minnesota freeze-thaw cycles are hard on wood — and what's a minor issue now can become a structural problem by spring.

A few things worth looking at:

🔸 Loose or wobbly railings — a safety issue that should be addressed before winter
🔸 Boards that are splitting, lifting, or showing significant wear
🔸 The ledger board where the deck meets the house — moisture intrusion here can affect the home's structure
🔸 Stairs and footings — ground movement over winter can shift posts and compromise the foundation

Not sure what you're looking at? That's exactly what we're here for.

There's a reason cedar siding has been on homes in Minneapolis and St. Paul for over a century — it's beautiful, naturally insulating, and when properly installed and maintained, it holds up through Minnesota winters in a way that few materials can match.

D.S. Bahr Construction installs cedar siding and shingles throughout the Twin Cities. We'll talk through the material, the maintenance commitment, and whether it's the right choice for your specific home. No upsell, just an honest conversation.
Fall is the right time to plan a siding project — before the scheduling rush and before winter takes the option off the table.

Minnesota winters are hard on roofs — but a fall inspection doesn't automatically mean you need a new one. Here are 5 things worth checking before the cold arrives.

The goal isn't to find a reason to replace your roof. It's to understand its condition before winter. Sometimes it's a repair. Sometimes it's maintenance. Sometimes everything is fine. We'll tell you honestly which it is.
