The 2026 Minneapolis Monarch Festival, sponsored by Mpls Parks and Monarch Joint Venture, is this Saturday, September 12th, 2025, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. We'll be there, and we hope to see you, too!

The Festival celebrates the monarch butterfly's amazing 2,300-mile migration from Minnesota to Mexico. There will be music, food, dance, hands-on art, native plant sales, and plenty of opportunities to get up close with monarch butterflies, learn about their habitats, and what you can do to make a difference.

Just like voting, recycling, or shopping at your local farmers' market, small actions add up when enough people do them. Imagine if every homeowner in Minneapolis carved out just a small corner of their yard for pollinators. Suddenly we've created thousands of little pockets of habitat that weren't there before.

That is how real change happens. Not because one person did everything - but because a whole community did something.

Go to my website and read the latest partner post from Blissful Bee Gardening to lern about little things you can do to help pollinators.

Our bird populations are suffering due to several human-driven factors. The good news is that if we caused it, we can correct it. Go to my website - earhwiseorganicconsulting.com/blog - to read my latest blog post about hope-filled ways you can help and attract birds in your yard and neighborhood. You can make a tremendous difference for our distressed birds and be an example to others who want to help, but don’t know what to do.

Thank you to our partners at the Pollinator Friendly Alliance for providing this important information about regulating neonicotinoid pesticides. Read how you can help by reading their partner post on my website: earthwiseorganicconsulting.com/blog

You have an opportunity to make comments to the State of Minnesota regarding neonicotinoid pesticides. Pesticide use is the driving force behind pollinator decline. Please add your name to the PFA group comment asking the Minnesota Department of Agriculture to protect our state from neonicotinoid pesticide contamination. The open comment period is only from June to mid-July.

There’s a reason pollinators are all over the news and the internet. It’s not unusual to see headlines like “Pollinators are endangered!”, “Save the bees!”, and “Monarch butterflies are dying.”

The good news is that everyone can do their part to help survive. In this blog post, , I’ll answer many questions that will let you create a pollinator-friendly yard, helping sustain the ecosystem in your corner of the world.

I will cover:
-What are pollinators?
-Why are they important?
-Why are they threatened?
-What can we do?
-How do we do it?
-What are the impacts?
