TAKE AND SAVE PICTURES OF YOUR WORLD CLASS ICICLES!

Homeowners, to help understand future stucco problems, take a look at your home now and take pictures. Walk around your home - yes, put your boots on and plow through that snow. Do you see any wet spots on your stucco or places where the ice dams have fused with the sides of your stucco home?

These are areas where, if you're having problems down the road, the photos will help identify why these problems exist.

In the photo below, you can see moisture behind the downspout. Here, the downspout is probably filled with ice and had split up the back, creating the moisture behind it.

Year after year, the moisture can expand and contract as it opens up cracks in the stucco and moisture in your home.

Be wise, put on your parkas and long johns and take those photos now!
