The project that launched my design career. ❤️

Every designer has a project that changes things. This was mine. The Isles Kitchen.

It was the project that gave me the opportunity to really show what I could do, to rethink a space, solve problems, mix old and new, and create something that felt deeply personal rather than simply “designed.”

Looking back, I can see so much of what still defines our work today: thoughtful space planning, respect for architecture, custom details, a mix of materials and eras, and rooms designed around how people actually live.

And that breakfast nook? Still one of my favorites. The tufted banquette tucked beneath those beautiful arched windows, feels just as good to me today as it did then.

A lot has changed since this kitchen. My business has grown, my team has grown, and I’ve certainly grown as a designer. But the things I care about most haven’t changed much at all.
Good design should function beautifully, feel personal, and stand the test of time.

It’s pretty special to look back at the project that helped start it all.❤️

Jennings Bay Lake Home Renovation | Lake Minnetonka Interior Design

Perched on a dreamy lot overlooking Jennings Bay, this home reno was a true labor of love for the homeowners. The goal? Create a gathering place for family, the kids, grandkids, and extended relatives. One wonderful lake retreat for spending time and connecting.

In this family, all the cooks are in the kitchen. Many hands, many tasks, and the best meals. Wide aisles, uninterrupted surfaces, and unique storage solutions to accommodate the biggest of families. It was our absolute pleasure to work with our wonderful clients to bring their family home to life.

As we enter a new week, here's a questions. Which entry do you actually use?

There’s the front door, the one that welcomes guests and makes the first impression. And then there’s the door you use every day. The one where the shoes come off and the evidence of real life accumulates. In many homes, that informal entry works far harder than the formal one ever will.

In the Whitefish Point home, the front entry sets the tone with the soaring cedar-clad walls and ceiling and it's mirror image Juliet balconies. The lake entry is beautiful in its own right but is designed to handle the mess of lake life with plenty of hooks and closed storage.

Two entrances. Two very different jobs. Both opportunities to make coming home feel good.

So which entrance gets the most use at your house: front door or back?

Leaving this little sneak peek here for your Friday.

Years in the making, the Douglas Kitchen is finally ready for its glamour shots and this one is going to be good.

So much thought, planning, and patience went into transforming this home, which makes finally reaching this stage all the sweeter.

For now, just a little glimpse: beautiful stone, soft pattern, layers of warm white, and one wonderful family to call it home.

We cannot wait to share the rest. Stay tuned.

Lux Design | Transformational Living 🖤

When serious water damage and structural issues were discovered in their primary bath, these homeowners jumped into a challenging remodeling project with both feet. They had inherited a pretty-on-the-outside bathroom that didn’t function well, and additionally, everything from the structural components to fixtures and finishes needed to be reconsidered and replaced. It became a perfect opportunity to rethink the function, refine the layout and create a space that was a reflection of their unique personal style.

Dark, moody blacks and burgundy paired with Calacatta Viola Marble and antique brass create a sophisticated palette that is both dramatic and serene.

A major transformation took place in the Sycamore Lane Primary Bath

Originally, you actually walked through the bathroom to enter the primary suite. Add in carpet, blue plumbing fixtures, and a wall-to-wall mirror, and the welcome to what should have been a sanctuary was… less than thrilling.

Thoughtful space planning changed everything. We separated the bathroom from the entry by creating a new gallery hall, giving the primary suite a proper sense of arrival and allowing the bathroom itself to become a private retreat.

From there, the design unfolded beautifully: gray-stained oak cabinetry, a soaking tub, warm layered lighting, beautiful stone, and a much calmer, more sophisticated palette.

Same house. Completely different experience. And not a speck of blue plumbing fixture in sight.

Speaking of a China Haul....

Do you use your fine china? Do you even own fine china anymore?

Maybe you have a custom armoire filled with pieces collected over a lifetime. Or maybe it holds the dishes you reach for every single day. However you roll, I’m curious: do you actually use and enjoy the things you own?

What makes something feel too precious to use? Sentimentality? Fear of breaking it? Or are you saving it for that elusive someday or special occasion?

I’m increasingly of the mind that using the beautiful things is the special occasion yet, I’ve noticed I have things passed down from my own family that I’ve never actually used. And recently, my sister and I even considered storing a piece neither of us had a place for simply because it belonged to someone we loved.

It made me wonder: Are we honoring these things by keeping them safe or by finding a way to make them part of our lives?

So tell me: what are you holding onto, and what would it take for you to start using it?

A quick chat about patience.

I can be a very patient person. Almost too patient at times. But when it comes to design? I would occasionally like the magical spaces we dream up for our clients to come to life by next Tuesday, please.

The reality is that the “coming to life” phase can feel painfully slow. And, ironically, we know that so much of what makes the finished space successful is the time, thought, and planning that happens long before anything beautiful gets installed.

So we plan. We detail. We wait. We trust the process.

But just for fun, let’s forget reality for a minute.

If you could snap your fingers and have ONE space in your home completely transformed by tomorrow, which would it be?

Tell me. I need the distraction from all this waiting. 😂

Custom Leaded Glass Cabinetry Details | Luxury Minneapolis Interior Design

When your new home has a China Hall or a “China Haul,” as our client affectionately calls it, ordinary just won’t do.

This space called for something extra special, and these custom designed leaded-glass panels made by absolutely delivered. The craftsmanship, texture, and subtle vintage character are going to add such a beautiful layer to the cabinetry.

It’s details like these that take a space from beautiful to completely personal and that’s always the goal.

We cannot wait to show you the finished China Haul. ❤️
