Erik has been a valued member of the Greenwise team since 2014. A native of Evanston, he transitioned into landscaping after college and has steadily advanced through the ranks. Many of our customers will remember Erik as a foreman during their garden maintenance visits, where his hard work, along with his lively and warm demeanor, made a lasting impression.

Welcome to Greenwise, Bob Diel!

We’re excited to welcome our newest team member, Bob Diel, who joined us as the Milwaukee Branch Manager & Senior Designer. Bob is originally from Wisconsin, with a brief time spent in Connecticut, and holds a degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. With more than 42 years of experience in the industry, Bob has earned the affectionate nickname of “Grandpa” from his colleagues! His passion for plants and the outdoors began at the young age of 10 when he started his first garden.

Bob enjoys working outdoors and collaborating with the crews to bring designs to life. He finds it especially rewarding to see a project evolve from something on paper into someone’s dream backyard.

We’re thrilled to have Bob on board and look forward to the great things we’ll accomplish together!

Throwback to this gorgeous transformation! 🌳 An urban homeowner wanted to transform their perpetually muddy, sloped backyard and cramped front lawn into beautiful, functional spaces. In exchange, a native garden was added to the front yard sustainability, low maintenance and year-round interest. Behind the house, we installed a beautiful bluestone patio to make this space functional and largely maintenance-free.

It’s never too early to start planning your own outdoor paradise. Contact us to start your project. https://www.iamgreenwise.com/contact-us/

🐝🌸 Insect populations are in rapid decline, and the Monarch butterfly is one of the hardest-hit species. The eastern Monarch population has plummeted from 300 million to less than 1 million! 😢
But here's the good news: we can make a difference right in our own backyards! 🏡

Creating habitats with native plants, especially milkw**d, can provide essential support for Monarchs and countless other insects. 🌿 By planting a patch of milkw**d or adding diverse local plants, we’re helping create safe havens for pollinators and promoting biodiversity. 🌻

Each of us has the power to turn our backyards into thriving ecosystems. It's about identifying opportunities and taking action to preserve our unique local species. Let's join together and be part of the solution! 💪💚

We often hear about sustainability, but what does it actually mean for your landscaping?

🌿 Simply put, it's about designing outdoor spaces that support long-term environmental health while minimizing resource use and impact. Let’s create spaces that are good for the planet and beautiful too! 🌍💚

Introducing our Newest Milwaukee Account Manager, Diana Aungst!

We are excited to introduce Diana Aungst as our newest Account Manager at our Milwaukee branch! A lifelong resident of the Milwaukee area, Diana is deeply familiar with the landscape and its unique needs and will be covering the northern and western suburbs.

Diana earned her undergraduate degree in horticulture from Concordia University, a field she fell in love with through her passion for gardening. Her fascination with plants quickly turned into a full-blown enthusiasm, earning her the title of "plant geek" among friends and colleagues. She knew early on that she wanted a career that allowed her to immerse herself in something she truly loved.

Diana has previously worked with several current members of the Greenwise team and is thrilled to be reunited with them while continuing her work in the sustainability space. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, reading, and tending to her own garden.

Winter Plant Care Tips ❄️🌿
When snow is on the ground, don’t forget to give your landscape some extra love:
✨ Remove snow around plants to prevent damage from weight and ice.
✨ Brush off heavy snow from delicate branches to avoid breakage. Use something soft like a broom and always brush downwards.
✨ Cover sensitive plants with frost cloth or similar coverings to shield them from extreme cold.
Protect your plants and keep your winter landscape thriving! 🌨️🌱

Dormant pruning in the winter is crucial! It helps preserve the structural integrity of your plants, promotes their overall health, and provides long-term benefits!
Pruning trees and shrubs during the growing season is essential, not only for maintaining their appearance but also to prevent overcrowding in the landscape. However, dormant pruning in the winter is just as crucial. It helps with stronger growth, disease prevention, and improved resilience. It is also the safest time of year for more drastic reductions or rejuvenation prunes which would happen towards the end of the winter, right before trees and shrubs prepare to come out of dormancy.

Encouraging new and existing clients to use natives, edibles, and other more beneficial elements to their landscapes. *Socially Entrepreneurial-Outdoor classroom and natural play space design team. Stakeholder design meeting, installation, and programmatic consulting for early childhood, youth and young adult. Continue to refine services so that they all have a benefit beyond the individual receiving services. Opportunities to explore and roll out new programming. What does it mean to you?
