Diesel costs add up fast when your fleet works hard day after day.

The good news? A few simple habits can save you hundreds of dollars a year per machine.
Start here:

• Inspect air filters every 50 hours. A clogged filter starves the engine of air and quietly wastes fuel.
• Check tire pressure before and after every use. It's free, and low pressure drags down efficiency.
• Run at the lowest rpm the job allows, then raise it only until the engine stops straining.
• Watch for warning signs like excessive black smoke and get ahead of repairs before they cost you at the pump.

Summer dust and long run hours are hard on your machine's filters, and if you neglect them, it will cost you in performance and fuel.

Three filters deserve regular attention:

• Engine oil filters trap contaminants in your oil. Change them every time you change the oil.
• Air filters protect internal engine parts. Swap them as soon as your machine signals maximum restriction, and never knock the dirt off to reuse one.
• Fuel filters keep debris out of the pump. A clogged filter robs your engine of power and makes the pump work harder.

Don't take shortcuts. Stick to the manufacturer's intervals to keep everything running at its best.
