Back to Basics!

Sometimes the oldest methods are still the best. Today we’re splitting a massive granite boulder the old-fashioned way—drilling a precise line of holes, setting traditional plug-and-feather wedges, and letting thousands of pounds of pressure do the work.

Granite has virtually no flex, so when the force is applied in the right place, even the biggest boulders surrender with a perfectly controlled split. Simple. Effective. Timeless.

There’s No School Like the Old School!

We’re removing a couple of massive boulders from a basement, but before we get fancy with the machinery, we’ve got to make them a little more manageable.

Step one: split this bad boy in half.

We drilled a series of holes along a controlled line, drove in some old-school wedges and shims like it was 375BC and let a technique that’s been working for centuries do the rest.

Drill. Wedge. Crack.

Sometimes the old ways are still the best ways.

COMING SOON — TEASER ALERT!

We’ve received the first addition to our lineup of manual column lifts!

These lifts will give us another highly controlled way to raise, support, and lower heavy or valuable items, working alongside the rest of our specialty moving equipment. For the right application, they’ll allow us to essentially “levitate” a load while maintaining precise control throughout the move.

As much as I’d love to show you what they can do right now, they’re heading straight out for paint first!

Movex Mini Crawler Crane vs. Built-In Closet

It’s moving day again, and when cabinets are nearly floor-to-ceiling, there are a couple of ways to get the job done.

Option A: Order the cabinets in knock-down form and have the finish carpenters assemble them on site.

Option B: Our favorite—bring in the Movex mini crawler crane and hoist each fully assembled cabinet through the double doors.

One by one, we carefully lifted each cabinet into the home until every unit was safely inside. The right equipment, combined with the right plan, saves time, reduces labor, and protects the finished space.

Movex Mini Crawler Crane Meets the Track-O Crawler Platform

Here’s where precision moving and demolition come together.

Most people know us for moving delicate items like marble, safes, and high-end furniture, but our specialized equipment is just as valuable on demolition projects.

On this job, we were tasked with removing several massive masonry chimneys. At the base of one chimney was a 16-inch-thick reinforced concrete footing. After a day and a half of jackhammering, we reduced the slab to a size that could be safely lifted.

Using the Movex Mini Crawler Crane in combination with the Track-O crawler platform, we removed the concrete efficiently while eliminating hours of additional jackhammering, material handling, and labor. The result was a safer workflow, less manual effort, and a project that finished ahead of schedule.
