Last night's Construction Inclusion Week Bay Area Networking event was a hit! In addition to the sunshine, bites and drinks, attendees heard from a stacked panel of workplace development professionals. The discussion centered on why and how to engage young professionals, how to spot and leverage transferrable skills from outside the construction industry and statewide resources to support women entering the trades.

Community colleges serve as gateways to opportunity for many communities throughout California.

Through XL's partnership with DLR Group, Evergreen Valley College’s 74,000-square-foot Student Services Complex was designed to support connection, collaboration, and student success. The LEED certified project completed in 2024, creates welcoming spaces for everything from daily interactions to campus-wide events while also bringing together vital campus functions including Admissions & Records, Financial Aid, Student Counseling, Disabilities Support Program and more. We're proud to help California community colleges build environments that strengthen communities and enhance the student experience with beautiful, clean, energy efficient spaces to learn and gather.

Congratulations to XL Co-Founder Dave Beck on being recognized by the Cal Poly College of Architecture & Environmental Design for his dedication to educating and mentoring future construction professionals.

As a Cal Poly alumnus, Dave regularly returns to the classroom to share industry insights and support student learning. Through guest lectures, mentorship, industry engagement, and support for student competitions, Dave has helped bring Cal Poly's Learn by Doing philosophy to life for future builders. His dedication reflects a partnership we value deeply, as many of our interns and team members have come through Cal Poly's programs over the years.

Recently, XL joined project partners and SPUR's Planning and Architecture Council (S**C) at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland for a tour and celebratory event marking the completion of its Administrative Support Building.

Attendees gathered to learn about sustainable design strategies, progressive design-build delivery, and workplace innovation, and strengthened connection between the hospital campus and the surrounding community.

Congratulations to our partners at UCSF on its very first mass timber building within the system!
