Earlier this month our Underutilized Business Enterprise (UBE) team leaders organized a “Speed Dating” event, designed to strengthen relationships between XL leaders and local UBEs.

Hosted at our Oakland office, the event brought together contractors and small businesses for a series of quick, focused conversations with XL’s business unit leaders—giving participants the chance to:
• Learn about XL’s diverse market sectors
• Understand upcoming project opportunities
• Share capabilities and build visibility within our teams

Earlier this month, XL Construction joined NorCal Carpenters Training in Pleasanton for their Equal Opportunity Construction Event. Students from across the Bay Area had the opportunity to engage with construction and trade professionals, gaining hands-on experience with PPE, power tools, and welding simulations.

Attendees also enjoyed food, raffles, and valuable networking opportunities. XL is proud to have connected with so many future builders and to support an event that provides real exposure to careers in the trades. Please join us in congratulating Richard Walker on his retirement after more than 11 years with XL Construction!

During his time at XL, Richard helped build more than buildings —he built opportunities, strong relationships, and a culture of caring that continues to shape who we are today. His leadership played a key role in XL’s growth to 600+ employees, the development of our core values, and numerous milestones, including #1 Best Place to Work honors and ENR California Contractor of the Year (2020).

We’re incredibly grateful for his lasting impact on our teams, clients, and communities and wish him all the best in this exciting next chapter!
