Before winter hits, give your roof’s connection points a quick check — these tiny areas take the most stress once snow and ice arrive.

Everyone talks about shingles and gutters, but the connection points are where winter problems actually start. A fast inspection now keeps your roof tight, sealed, and ready for cold weather.

What to check before winter:

• Chimney flashing: This metal strip is the first place ice tries to sneak in. If it’s lifting even slightly, seal it before freezing temps lock it in place.

• Vent boots: The rubber around plumbing vents can crack as temps drop. If you see gaps or brittleness, replace them now to prevent leaks.
