Out of sight doesn’t mean out of the pipes.

Simply opening a drain can leave water behind in low spots and irrigation components. When that trapped water freezes, it expands and can damage pipes, valves, and sprinkler heads.

A professional blowout uses controlled compressed air to move remaining water out through each zone. Proper winterization also accounts for components such as backflow devices, which require separate handling.

Warm light around 2700K creates a soft, inviting glow that often complements brick, wood, and outdoor gathering spaces.

One detail worth knowing: Kelvin measures light color. Lumens measure brightness. A cooler bulb isn’t automatically a brighter one.

That leak won’t fix itself while the system takes the winter off.

A soggy patch, a sprinkler that barely reaches, or a zone that suddenly loses pressure deserves a closer look before shutdown.

These symptoms can point to different problems:
• A damaged head or pipe
• A valve that isn’t working correctly
• A coverage issue or controller setting that needs attention

Turning up the runtime can waste more water without solving the cause.

Make a note of the location and when the problem appears. A quick photo or video while the zone is running can help explain what you’re seeing.

Your lawn doesn’t need water just because the timer says so. 💧

For an established lawn that needs supplemental water, these are practical October starting points:
• Water 1–2 mornings per week.
• Fixed spray zones: approximately 15–20 minutes per watering.
• Rotor zones: approximately 45–60 minutes per watering.

Why the difference? Fixed sprays generally put water down faster than rotors.

Actively growing lawns generally need about 1 inch of water per week, including rainfall. Check what your sprinklers actually deliver with catch cups, and reduce or skip watering when rain has done the job.

If water starts running off, split the runtime into shorter cycles with time to soak in. Newly seeded lawns need a different schedule.

When water repeatedly collects in the same spot after rain, your property is giving you useful clues.

Watch where runoff arrives, where it pools, and how long it stays. Downspout discharge, low areas, and drainage systems that aren’t moving water effectively can all contribute.

After the next steady rainfall, check for water collecting in low areas, around the foundation, beside walkways, at downspout exits, or in beds where mulch has washed away. Fallen leaves can also block drains and turn a small problem into persistent standing water.
