Many homeowners are unaware that an MHIC license is a legal requirement for residential projects in Maryland.

A reminder for those businesses who actually have a real license in the state of Maryland.
An LLC registration is not a license. It’s a business registration.
If you have a license, an MHIC number, you are required to post that in all advertising, on your vehicles, on your collateral, on your estimates and contracts, on your business card, on your website, etc.

You are not a licensed contractor if you don’t have an MHIC number

ARE YOU AWARE????

If a contractor asks for more than one-third up front for a project, or demands cash before a written contract is signed, it is a violation of the Maryland Home Improvement Law (Md. Code, Business Regulations § 8-617) and can be reported directly to the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC) or local Office of Consumer Protection.
