🏡 How Long Should an Exterior Paint Job Last?

In most cases, an exterior paint job lasts 5 to 10 years, depending on a few important factors:

🏠 Surface Prep: Sanding, scraping, and priming create a solid foundation. Skipping these steps is one of the biggest reasons paint fails early.

🎨 Paint Quality & Coats: Premium exterior paint applied in proper coats holds up better against Connecticut’s sun, rain, and freezing winters.

🌤️ Weather During Application: Paint needs the right temperatures and dry conditions to cure properly.

🪵 Surface Type: Wood, siding, and trim all wear differently. Sun-exposed sides of your home, especially south- and west-facing areas, tend to fade and wear faster.

A well-done exterior paint job should last years, not seasons. That’s why we back our work with a 7-year warranty!

Does waiting another year to paint your home really save money? Often, no.

In Connecticut, your home’s exterior takes on sun, rain, snow, and major temperature changes throughout the year. Once paint starts to fail, moisture can reach the surfaces underneath, and peeling or cracking can lead to repairs you didn’t plan for.

Exterior painting isn’t just about curb appeal. It’s about protecting your home before small problems become bigger, more expensive ones.

Signs it may be time to repaint:
• Peeling or flaking paint
• Cracking or bubbling
• Faded or chalky color

If you’re noticing these signs, now is a good time to take action before the exterior painting season ends.
