Faros Design

Faros Design Our mission is to build proper coastal homes that are the most resilient to future storms and major flood events. Ultimately many lost their homes completely.

While better educating the general public about the affects that flooding and storms have on the coastal environment and better preparedness. When Hurricane Irene and Sandy struck our beautiful coastline here in the Northeast, it was devastating for everyone. Millions of people were affected by the wrath of these storms. The damage on the East Coast tallied into the billions of USD. The National F

lood Insurance Program (NFIP) completely changed their policies and the requirements that people needed to live in a flood prone area in response. In some cases, this made flood insurance premiums unaffordable to the average middle class person. Although the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provided funding assistance to get people back into their homes, they continued to accept substandard solutions to aid in getting these houses out of harms way for the next go-around. These houses that were once sitting on conventional foundation are now being “lifted” to withstand to structural forces of a different nature. Many of these houses were not designed or intended for these uses. This is a quick solution which we can only be looked at as a bandage for the future ahead of us. Faros Design provides an alternative building method which not only takes into account these future storms that will be hitting out coastline, but provides a far superior method which trumps the all the conventional methods that are being used in today's coastal development projects. Faros Design (FD) builds homes that are of the highest resilience to future storms focusing on building performance with cutting edge technology and methodolgies. FD does this by integrating an innovative foundation system with a patent pending cap system which unifies the foundation, substructure and house as one. FD’s foundation system will not crumble, rot, or rust. Furthermore, there is no excavation required for our foundation installations, something of great importance in these environmentally sensitive areas. Most people looking to build their future home typically hire a contractor who frames the structure entirely in the field. This is very costly and in many ways inferior to the construction methodology that we use here at Faros Design. Materials meant for interior use become exposed to the elements in times of inclement weather. Standards of construction are many times diluted or even ignored as quality control rarely has third party oversight. These are some of the many reasons why this method turns out to be more costly, wasteful, and inferior to Faros Design’s methods. At Faros Design, we are simplifying the home building process so it is not such an overwhelming experience for the average person looking to build their dream home. We streamline this process so that it can be an exciting experience rather than a daunting or even frightening one. Faros Design is currently in the process of building a digital platform that will aid us in serving our clients in the most efficient and productive way possible. FD deals with prefabricated structures and assemblies that go through most stringent quality control checks, and are far superior to those structures that are built in the field hands down. When done correctly, there’s virtually nothing that can’t be created with modular methods. These modular techniques make the process much easier, efficient, timely, and less expensive. We will continue forward with serving and repairing our coastal community to the best of our abilities while raising the built environments “Standard”. Most coastal homes are designed around the site.
We design because of it.
Every shoreline property has its own rhythm—sun exposure, wind, soil conditions, flood requirements, and all the coastal nuances that only show up when you slow down and study the land the right way.
At Faros Design, we use BIM modeling, composite piling foundations, and a clear permitting strategy from the start. It’s how we build smarter, stronger, and with intention. No guessing. No surprises. Just a clean, well-thought-out plan that respects the site and elevates the home.
When you understand the site, everything falls into place.
Clean lines. Strong structure. A design that feels like it always belonged there.
If you’re planning a coastal rebuild—or just bought a property and want clarity on what’s possible—reach out anytime.
We’ll walk you through the next steps, calm and straightforward.

Our building methodology here at Faros Design would have prevented this from happening. We pray for those that were affected by this winter storm. Please contact us when you are planning to build in a waterfront area that has a high possibility of erosion.

Orlena exited the area about a month ago, but the storm’s effects are still being felt in at least one waterfront neighborhood. - Videos from The Weather Channel | weather.com
