One of the main reasons why pickleball has gained massive popularity recently is because of how easy it is to learn. Unlike other summer sports with complicated rules that require extensive practice, pickleball allows players to jump right in with easy-to-understand rules.

Not only are the rules easy to understand, but it’s also fairly easy for one to play. Players serve underhand, rallies happen on a smaller court, and scoring is easy to follow. Because the court is smaller than something like a tennis court, there’s less ground to cover, which makes the game feel less overwhelming for first-time players of all ages.

A major factor in the tennis vs. pickleball court debate is their size. When deciding which one you want in your yard, knowing how it would fit and impact the aesthetics of your yard is key.

An average singles tennis court is 78 feet long and 27 feet wide. An average doubles tennis court is 78 feet long and 36 feet wide. The sheer widths and lengths of these two types of tennis courts require a lot of space in your backyard.

A standard pickleball court measures 20 feet wide and 44 feet long. Though it is recommended to include some safety space, making the court a total of 30 feet wide and 60 feet long. Since pickleball courts are much smaller than your standard tennis court, they are a better decision if you have a smaller yard or want a court that doesn’t take up a big chunk of your outdoor space.
