An average singles tennis court is 78 feet long and 27 feet wide. An average doubles tennis court is 78 feet long and 36 feet wide. The sheer widths and lengths of these two types of tennis courts require a lot of space in your backyard.

A standard pickleball court measures 20 feet wide and 44 feet long. Though it is recommended to include some safety space, making the court a total of 30 feet wide and 60 feet long. Since pickleball courts are much smaller than your standard tennis court, they are a better decision if you have a smaller yard or want a court that doesn’t take up a big chunk of your outdoor space.
