Ever had a toilet clog that just wouldn’t budge? That’s what we faced for a homeowner in Odessa.🚽

We pulled the toilet and ran a snake through the line, but the blockage needed more attention. After checking under the house, we found a cast iron 90 that needed replacing. We installed new PVC fittings and made sure the line was clear from the lavatory to the main connection. Everything is now draining smoothly.

Sometimes, clearing a clog means digging a little deeper. If your drains are slow or backed up, it might be time to look beneath the surface.

🔥 Is Your Water Heater Trying to Warn You?

Water heaters usually give you warning signs before they completely fail. Watch for:

• Water that doesn’t stay hot
• Rusty or discolored hot water
• Popping, rumbling, or banging sounds
• Moisture or leaking around the tank

🛠️ CAST IRON & PVC DRAIN DESCALING

🔹 Cast Iron: Descaling can remove minor rust and buildup from the inside of older cast-iron piping, improving flow and helping reduce stoppages. It’s important to understand that descaling is not a permanent fix for deteriorating cast iron, but when the pipe is still in suitable condition, it can help extend its usable life and buy time before replacement is needed.

🔹 PVC: Hard-water minerals and uric scale, especially in commercial systems, can significantly restrict PVC piping. We can mechanically remove the buildup and then hydro jet the line to flush out the debris, helping restore the pipe to its full flow capacity.

📹 A camera inspection is required first to evaluate the condition of the piping and determine if descaling is the right option.

We cut open this old electric water heater to show exactly what years of buildup and lack of maintenance can look like inside the tank.

All of that buildup you see? Your water heater has been holding and heating water around it every single day. 😳

We recommend having your water heater serviced annually. A proper water heater service can include flushing sediment from the tank, inspecting the unit for signs of corrosion or leaks, and checking the anode rod to see if it is still protecting the tank.

Skipping maintenance year after year can allow sediment to build up and corrosion to continue unnoticed — and sometimes the first sign of a problem is when the water heater starts leaking or completely gives out.
