When you arrive, park in the lot at the top of the driveway.
Your first stop is Lavender Crumb, our free food pantry + community closet. Cash only for shop purchases!

Then head down the driveway to find all of our vendors. Make sure you walk all the way to the end because we have vendors set up inside the barn too! The barn on the left is our staff barn.

Our vendors have reasonably priced, handmade items you aren’t going to find sitting on a big-box store shelf. This is the PERFECT time to start finding those unique gifts for birthdays, Christmas, teachers, friends, family… or yourself. 😉

🚨 PLEASE DRIVE SLOW DOWN THE DRIVEWAY.
We have farm cats, dogs, horses, people, and equipment moving around. They do not use crosswalks. 😂 It’s a farm, not a racetrack.

VENDORS: You may arrive up to 2 hours early to set up. Assigned spaces can begin heading in at 7AM. Khoa will be on the Kubota helping direct anyone who is new.

We unfortunately do not have a food truck, so pack a snack. We will have cold water + canned sodas available at Lavender Crumb.

Please note that we are unable to allow parking closer to the barns or horses. Silver Mane is an active, working horse farm, and we must maintain access to our horses and farm areas at all times.

After having previous events affected by weather and cancellations, we wanted to create something different — an outdoor market where small businesses can simply show up, set up, and have a place to sell, connect, and grow.

No huge vendor fees. No pressure. Just small businesses supporting small businesses and a community showing up for one another.

And while you’re here, stop into Lavender Crumb! 💕 Our community closet will have affordable clothing, and our FREE food pantry will be available to anyone who needs it — no questions asked. Money raised through the community closet goes right back into helping us keep food on the shelves.

Fall is one of the best times to design and build a garden. The weather is cooler, the soil is still warm, and you’ll have plenty of time to prepare everything before spring arrives.

So this front pollinator garden started off small and full of weeds, this is just one year later with lots of love and weeding.

But things just keep blooming and making us happy!

Think gardening season is over? Think again!

Here in Frederick, late July is the perfect time to start your fall garden. With cooler weather on the way, you’ll enjoy fewer pests, healthier plants, and some of the sweetest harvests of the year.

🌿 Direct sow these crops in late July:
🥕 Carrots
🫜 Beets
🫛 Bush Beans (last planting!)
🥒 Cucumbers (last planting!)
🎃 Summer Squash (zucchini, yellow squash, pattypan)
🌱 Turnips
🥬 Swiss Chard
🌿 Cilantro
🌿 Dill
🥬 Arugula

Start these indoors now for transplanting in August:
🥦 Broccoli
🥬 Cabbage
🥬 Kale
🥬 Collards
🥬 Cauliflower
🥬 Kohlrabi
🥬 Brussels Sprouts (don’t wait! These take a long time)

💚 The Kight Farm Tip: Whenever possible, direct sow your fall crops. Many cool-season vegetables actually perform better when planted directly in the garden, making it an easy and rewarding way to grow your own food.

Don’t forget—a late July planting of zucchini or yellow squash can give you a fresh harvest in early fall, often with fewer pest problems than spring-planted squash!

🍁 Fall gardening is one of Maryland’s best-kept secrets. Start planting now, and you’ll be harvesting fresh vegetables well into autumn.

We are conducting an experiment at the Master Gardeners Demo Garden. We are comparing heirloom tomatoes with hybrids. Gonna see which out performs and which tastes better. Stay tuned.
