If an outlet stops working, its reset button could be in your garage, basement, or even a bathroom!

GFCI outlets, the ones with TEST and RESET buttons, can protect other outlets on the same circuit. Those other outlets may look ordinary and can be in a completely different room.

Before assuming an outlet is bad, check for a tripped GFCI. If it won’t reset or keeps tripping, have the cause checked.

Take care of the people who work with their hands.

During COVID, we all saw the photos of healthcare workers after spending hours behind masks. The marks on their faces became a symbol of what they were going through every day.

It always stuck with me because, in a different way, masks have been part of construction long before COVID, and they’ll be part of it long after.

Attics full of insulation. Basements full of dust. Drywall, concrete, sawdust, fiberglass. We work around things every day that you really don’t want in your lungs.

The trades have a reputation for just pushing through. Get the job done. Deal with it. Go home and do it again tomorrow.

But there’s nothing tough about ignoring your health.

Wear the mask. Wear the glasses. Protect your ears. Use the knee pads. Take care of your body.

The goal isn’t just to make it through today’s job. It’s to still be healthy enough to enjoy the life you’re working so hard to build.
