Our 2026 ancillary routine inspection season in Wisconsin is coming to a close. With one trip underway this week and a few remaining, the Fickett team is on track to complete nearly 500 routine inspections for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Ancillary inspections cover a wide variety of structure types that often provide challenges regarding access requirements and traffic impact. A few themes from this season stand out:

• Coordination with WisDOT personnel and the Traffic Management Center was essential on the Madison Beltline. A combination of dynamic/portable changeable messaging signs, a truck mounted attenuator and night work kept our crews and the traveling public safe.
• Rope access allowed us to inspect a handful of structures without a lane or shoulder closure, cutting traffic impact and closure time significantly.
• The bucket truck and self-performed shoulder closures again handled a bulk of the program, with over (100) closures set and pulled by our own crews.


Thanks to WisDOT and everyone who helped make this season run smoothly. Looking forward to closing out the year strong!

Our team was out in Montana climbing bridges again in July. Kirsten Parent, PE; Steven Hammerschmidt, PE; Michael Feilbach, PE; and Jordan Budiac, PE traveled throughout Western Montana to perform NSTM Inspections for the Montana Department of Transportation. Our SPRAT-certified team used rope access methods to perform hands-on inspections. The team enjoyed great weather, great sites, and enjoyed a few hikes throughout their trip.
