Hello Community Friends,
Recently, there has been an increasing discussion about unscrupulous contractors, and I would like to take this opportunity to share a few thoughts on the matter:
1) We strongly dislike instances where individuals are taken advantage of.
2) Often, companies claim to be licensed and insured but fail to provide their license number. It is mandatory for licensed professionals to display their license number on all advertisements. It is essential to note that certain services, such as screen repair, do not require a contractors license; however, companies may claim to be licensed, which can be misleading. This may lead you to believe they are capable of performing tasks they are not licensed for. Therefore, make sure they are licensed in the correct area - the area you are hiring them for.
3) While everyone wants a good deal, it is crucial to remember that the cheapest price does not guarantee the best job. Look for contractors who offer fair prices, rather than the lowest, as quality work comes at a cost.
4) Handyman companies can be a good choice; however, they are often not licensed to perform tasks such as window and door replacement. Similarly, re-screening companies are a great option but may not be licensed to rebuild a screen room or modify an existing room.
If you are planning any work that needs a contractor hire a licensed and insured contractor.
