To celebrate this milestone, we’re sharing some of Wanting’s recent renderings for Le Parc Café at the Coral Gables Country Club, a current SMDS project that she is also managing.

We’re honored to share that Bayshore Park has been recognized with three 2026 design awards: the Florida ASLA Award of Excellence, Florida ASLA Environmental Sustainability Honor Award, and the AIA Florida Award of Excellence Sustainability Honor Award.

We are grateful to our clients, collaborators, and project partners for helping bring this vision to life and for creating a park that strengthens the Miami Beach community.

Our team also had a wonderful time connecting with colleagues and celebrating the profession at this year’s Florida ASLA Conference in Orlando and the AIA Florida Convention.

Earlier this month, broke the world record for the largest dog pool party at Chewy Bark Park in Coral Gables. Our studio is proud to have led the landscape architectural design for the park, and we’re so happy to see the space brought to life and enjoyed by the community and their canine friends.

Special thank you to for allowing us to use their photos.

We had the pleasure of welcoming a Dutch resiliency delegation to Bayshore Park, hosted by Kelly and Patricia of the SMDS team, bringing together leaders in climate adaptation, public works, and coastal research.

The group included Robert Proos (Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate), Dirk-Jan Walstra (Director, Deltares), Johan Verlinde (Program Manager, Rotterdam Climate Adaptation Plan), Joop Polfliet (Director of Public Works, Municipality of Rotterdam), Carolien Kraan (Senior Scientist, Deltares), and Lauren Schambach (Coastal Scientist, Deltares USA).

Bayshore Park serves as a model for how public space can function as resilient infrastructure, adapting to the realities of rising seas. The park establishes an 85-acre watershed that captures and filters runoff from the surrounding neighborhood, treating stormwater on site and reducing pollutant loads before discharge to Biscayne Bay.

Our team had a great time at today’s rainbow streetscape unveiling in Miami Beach. It was incredibly rewarding to see this SMDS project realized, reimagining a beloved piece of the city into a space for community and inclusivity.

Proud to contribute to work that reflects Miami Beach’s identity while advancing a more inclusive and meaningful public realm.
