South Florida friends— As many of you already know, our family loves to escape and recharge on a remote island in The Bahamas (Long Island). It’s far from the crowds. It’s rustic. It’s authentic. It’s rich with amazing natural wonders and the friendliest Bahamians. That’s why we love it so much. We are often asked: “How hard is it to get to?” Sometimes the best places require a bit more effort to get there. However, there’s now a very easy way for to fly there from South Florida. has begun offering direct flights from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport to Stella Maris Long Island. You can pay “by the seat” or if you have a large group you can charter the entire Cessna Caravan aircraft. Flying there is a pleasure and you avoid the hassles of the big airports. Enjoy a long weekend or escape for a week. You can stay at or rent our place at . Happy to share any other insights… and hope to see you in the Out Islands in 2024!

A new Strang Design studio will soon be opening in Central Florida. The building was formerly home to Gene Leedy’s architectural practice for nearly seven decades. I am proud that this important structure will continue to serve as an architectural office… perhaps the longest running example in the state.
