Some people loved it, some people hated it. Was it basic? yeah, probably. Could it have been better? for sure. But living in a country where every culture gets a seat at the table is still something wild when you really think about it.

Big companies make decisions with data, money, pressure, and contexts most of us will never see. We judge from the couch, they decide from boardrooms. You don’t have to agree with everything to respect that the game is bigger than opinions.

Same thing applies to work, homes, and results. Everyone has something to say until it’s time to execute.

Door refinishing in Miami, real work, real lessons, real results.

This job was supposed to take two days. It took four.
I made a mistake and stained the door darker than it should have been. Big one. I had to re sand, re stain, and start again. I lost money on this project, but I did not cut corners. The door was finished perfectly, and that is non negotiable for me.

This post shows day one and day two.
Day three and day four, the correction and final perfection, are coming next.

How this door refinishing process is done, step by step.

First, hardware removal and full surface protection.
Second, deep sanding to remove old finish and open the wood grain.
Third, color testing and stain application based on the client’s space and light.
Fourth, drying and inspection.
Fifth, additional sanding if needed, this is where my mistake happened.
Sixth, correct stain application.
Seventh, sealing with exterior grade protective finish for Miami sun and humidity.
Last, reinstallation and final alignment.

Pricing for door refinishing in Miami.

Low end, $350 to $450 per door.
This applies when the door is in good condition, minimal sanding, standard stain, no color correction, no major sun damage.

Mid range, $500 to $650 per door.
Most common. Includes deeper sanding, custom stain tone, sun wear correction, and proper exterior sealing.

Premium, $700 to $900 per door.
For doors with heavy sun damage, previous bad jobs, color corrections, multiple sanding stages, high end stains, and premium protective finishes. This is craftsmanship pricing, not quick work pricing.

Factors that affect price.
Door condition, sun damage, number of panels, stain color changes, drying time, access, and expectations.

If you want cheap, this is not it.
If you want it done right, corrected when mistakes happen, and finished like it should be, this is exactly it.

Preparation is everything on a job site.

What slows projects down is rarely the skill, it’s the lack of prep. Lost minutes add up fast when the crew is hunting for tools, making last minute runs to Home Depot, or figuring out steps on the fly. The fix is simple but not easy, do the work before the work.

Here’s the multi count breakdown that separates smooth jobs from delayed ones.
1. Tools staged before day one
Every tool has a place and is ready before the first screw goes in. No searching, no guessing.
2. Materials fully scoped and purchased
One missing item can stop an entire crew. Buying everything upfront protects your timeline and margins.
3. Steps planned in sequence
When the crew knows the exact order, there’s no rework, no waiting, no confusion.
4. Fewer interruptions, faster completion
Less downtime means tighter schedules, happier clients, and more jobs completed per month.

If you’re running a construction company, preparation isn’t overhead, it’s profit protection.
