1️⃣ TRUE, with a catch. Insulation helps reduce heat transfer and can make a real difference, but it's one piece of a system that also depends on weatherstripping and seal condition.
2️⃣ FALSE. Most warranties cover manufacturer defects, not wear items or damage from weather, impact, or lack of maintenance. Always worth reading the fine print.
3️⃣ FALSE. A properly engineered wide door with correct hardware and reinforcement holds up just fine. Engineering matters more than width alone.

Garage door starts to close, then reverses right back up? 🤔

Nine times out of 10 it isn't broken. It's the two little safety sensors down by the floor losing sight of each other.

Here in the East Valley, they get knocked out more than you'd think:
🌵 Fine valley dust hazing the lens (you can barely see it)
☀️ Low afternoon sun glaring into a west-facing sensor
🌡️ Summer heat cycling loosening the mounting brackets
🕷️ A single spider web across the beam

Try this before you call anyone:
✅ Check that both sensor lights are on and steady
✅ Wipe both lenses with a dry microfiber cloth
✅ Clear anything sitting in the beam path
✅ Gently nudge each sensor and watch the light steady up

One thing we'll always say: don't tape over or disconnect them. That reversing is the safety system doing exactly its job. 🔒

✅ Walk around and look for dents or debris damage
✅ Disconnect the opener and lift the door halfway by hand — it should hold on its own
✅ Check the tracks and rollers for dust buildup
✅ Look at the bottom seal for tears or gaps

Myth-busting round two. TRUE or FALSE, guess before you scroll to the answers 👀

1️⃣ If your remote still opens the door, everything is working fine.
2️⃣ Every garage door opener sold today comes with battery backup.
3️⃣ A wireless keypad is less secure than a traditional remote.
4️⃣ A brand-new opener means you can skip maintenance for years.
5️⃣ Louder usually means more powerful and more durable.

ANSWERS:

1️⃣ FALSE. The remote only tells you the motor works. Sensors, cables, and track alignment can all fail independently while the remote still functions.
2️⃣ FALSE. Battery backup is a specific feature, not a standard on every model. Worth checking if yours has it, especially before monsoon season.
3️⃣ FALSE. A quality rolling-code keypad is just as secure as a remote. The bigger risk is an old, un-updated code.

Steel tracks and hardware expand as they heat up throughout an Arizona day, then contract again overnight. That daily expansion and contraction is normal, but it can be enough to shift alignment slightly, especially on an older or already-worn track.
