New Keystone Pool Deck & Tile Selections!

10/13/2026

From a concrete shell to a backyard again. What’s next?

Welcome back to our “How a Pool’s Built in Brevard” series at Aquatic Pools.

Now that the gunite has been shot, shaped, and properly cured, it’s time for BACKFILL.

After the pool shell is constructed and the necessary plumbing and inspections are completed, the open space around the outside of the pool needs to be filled back in.

But it’s not as simple as pushing dirt into a hole.

Backfill material is carefully placed around the pool shell, plumbing, and other underground components. The material is placed and compacted as required to provide stable support and minimize future settling.

Why does this matter?

Here in Brevard County, sandy soils, groundwater, and heavy Florida rainfall can make proper backfilling especially important.

Poorly placed backfill can lead to settling, shifting soil, and problems with the surrounding pool deck down the road.

This step helps prepare the area for the next phases of construction, including deck preparation and installation.

Dig → Form → Steel → Gunite → Backfill.

We’re one step closer to turning that construction site into your backyard oasis.

The next big wave of opportunity is building right here in Brevard. 🚀🌊

Space Florida announced $41 million in combined infrastructure funding for projects supporting Relativity Space, ULA, SpaceX, and Blue Origin—from launch facilities to water treatment and causeway improvements.

For local businesses, investments like these can create opportunities well beyond aerospace: construction, skilled trades, suppliers, and services that help our community grow.

At Aquatic Pools, we’re proud to build where so much possibility is taking shape. The rockets may head to space, but this is where the work begins.

One of the biggest decisions you’ll make when building a pool is also one of the most misunderstood: the interior finish.

Your pool finish covers the entire interior of the pool, including the floor, walls, steps and benches. It has a major impact on the final look, feel and even how the water color appears.

Here are the basics:

QUARTZ
Typically the most economical option. Quartz has a finer texture and tends to create a more uniform, solid-color appearance from a distance.

PEBBLE
More textured and naturally varied. The individual stones create a speckled look and can also help disguise minor staining and normal aging over time.

PEBBLE + GLASS
Similar to pebble, but with glass added into the finish. In direct sunlight, those glass particles catch the light and add extra sparkle to the pool.

Color matters too.

Lighter finishes tend to age more gracefully and hide calcium deposits and minor discoloration better. Darker finishes can create a dramatic water color, but they generally show imperfections more easily.

There isn’t one “best” pool finish.

The right choice depends on the look you want, your budget, preferred texture and how much maintenance you’re comfortable with.
