Most homeowners don’t realize there’s a problem until the trim starts peeling or the wood gets soft… but by then, water has usually been getting in for a while.
This window had significant rot damage along the sill and lower trim from ongoing moisture intrusion. We removed the damaged material, rebuilt the affected areas, sealed everything properly, and restored the exterior so it’s protected again.
The goal isn’t just to “cover it up” — it’s to stop the problem from spreading and repair it the right way.
If you’ve noticed:
• Peeling paint
• Soft wood
• Swollen trim boards
• Cracking caulk
• Water stains or drafts around windows
…it’s worth having it looked at before it turns into a larger structural repair.

We’re working on homes throughout Southern NH and Northern MA fixing the same issues over and over again.

A lot of houses were built the same way…
Which means they fail the same way too.

If your home was built between 1985–2005, there’s a good chance you’ll run into this at some point.

If you already are — we can help you fix it the right way.

Rot doesn’t stay small.

What starts as a little soft trim can turn into:

• Framing damage
• Water getting inside walls
• Much larger repairs

We see it every week.

The sooner it’s addressed, the simpler it is.

If something looks off on your house, it probably is.

How we handle rot repair (simple and straightforward):

1. Quick review (photos or message)
2. On-site assessment if needed
3. Clear scope of work
4. Repair completed (most jobs 1–2 days)

No long timelines. No confusion.

Just clear answers and solid work.

Most wood rot starts from one simple issue:

Water getting trapped where it shouldn’t.

Common problem areas:
• Bottom of door trim
• Window sills
• Garage door surrounds
• Deck connections to the house

If it feels soft when you press it — it’s already too late for paint or caulking.

At that point, it needs to be removed and replaced properly.

This is how rot actually gets fixed.

Not filled. Not patched. Rebuilt.

Left: what we found
Right: how it should look when it’s done properly

This type of damage is extremely common around garage doors, windows, and trim.

If you’re seeing early signs, it’s a lot easier (and cheaper) to deal with now.

Send a photo — we’ll take a look.

**Not all rot repair is the same.**

Most of the jobs we see weren’t fixed — they were covered up.

That’s why the problem comes back.

At New England Rot Repair, we do things differently:

• We identify the source of the damage
• We remove all compromised material
• We rebuild it properly so it lasts

No shortcuts. No guessing.

Most repairs are completed in 1–2 days.

If you’re dealing with soft wood, peeling trim, or water damage around doors or windows…

Send us a message with a photo and we’ll point you in the right direction.
