Good evening!

Yesterday, quickbooks sent out email reminders for unpaid invoices. The problem is, many of those had already been paid. This is my fault. I had become behind in entering payments, so quickbooks, being eager to collect money for us, sent out reminder of unpaid balance notices. If you received one, and have already paid your invoice, please disregard the reminder. I hope it won't happen again, but no promises because I'm pretty awful at bookkeeping. If this happens to you in the future, please roll your eyes at my lack of urgency in entering your payments, and disregard the notice. I am so sorry for any inconvenience this has caused anyone.

As always, if you do have a balance due and are struggling to pay it, reach out and let us know. We are not strict on the due dates (quickbooks wants us to be, but we are flexible), but if several months go by with no communication we do start charging interest. A quick message to Jesse to let him know you're thinking of him, but need a little more time, makes him feel loved. If you don't owe money, but still want to let him know you love him, he always appreciates that as well. He loves most of you back. 😁

PS: Post op scans have been completed and show no cancer! Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers!

We have been informed by a contractor we work with that they received an email from us about a problem with their checks and they will be receiving another email with links to provide payment information.

We will never request you click a link to provide payment information, and have always kept that option turned off in QuickBooks, who we use to send invoices. If you get this type of request that looks like it is coming from us, please let us know, and do NOT click the link.

The most concerning part of this situation is that the scam email came in an already existing email thread with a forwarded message from an email that was almost exactly the same as ours. After a lot of investigating, changing passwords, and turning on all security features, it does not look like our account was breached in any way, but please scrutinize any emails you receive that look like they come from us, and do not click any links from us. The spoof email address used had an extra letter in it, which was caught only after looking at it closely.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and will continue to monitor ourselves and immediately alert anyone affected.

Where has the summer gone?!

Jesse has been back to normal-ish work hours, and is booked solid, working on catching up after taking some time off to help Anna after her surgery. He made a wonderful nurse, and took great care of Anna. Update on the surgery: they did find more cancer, but it was removed properly this time by the specialist in Kansas City, and Anna has been declared NED (no evidence of disease)! Monitoring will continue, but we have gotten the best news of NED and no metastasis.

Update on Taea's surgery is that it did not happen due to the clinic not submitting pre-approvals to the insurance company. That is a long story, that thankfully ended before any procedures were completed, and she is seeing a new orthopedic doctor. The surgery is now scheduled for the end of September, right after Anna's next trip to Kansas City, so Jesse may be taking time off again at that time.

August, while mostly normal hours, will be interesting for us here at JS Plumbing & Heating. All of the employees (who were so lucky to be born into the opportunity 😂) are moving out on their own. If you happen to see Jesse crying in a corner somewhere, he would probably appreciate a hug. Kaden will still be working with Jesse while also running his 3D design and printing business, but it will be the first time there are no kids living at home.

Taea and Koen will be attending school, so won't be working with Jesse. :( Taea is starting pharmacy school, and Koen will be studying engineering.

Thank you to everyone who has shared kind words, sent prayers, and/or checked in on us while we have been navigating the scary stuff over the past year. We appreciate you all so much. JS Plumbing & Heating has the best customers and friends.

JS Plumbing & Heating will have very sporadic hours over the next couple of weeks.

We've had sporadic hours the last couple of weeks as well, and apologize if you've been trying to contact us and we haven't gotten back to you.

We fully moved our daughter back home from her university in Kansas recently. She will be moving to Madison in the fall where she will be attending pharmacy school.

We have been working to make our house more accessible since we've been home, in preparation for an intense knee surgery that our daughter will have next week, leaving her without full use of a leg for many months, with a year long total recovery.

This week, Jesse and Anna are heading to Kansas City where Anna sees a sarcoma specialist, and will be having a resection in her thigh after having a tumor removed improperly last summer.

In the midst of all the chaos, we are also celebrating our youngest's graduation from high school.

It's crazy busy over here, and Jesse is getting back to people as our schedule allows. We thank everyone for their patience and prayers as we navigate these situations. We have the best customers and friends.

Hey friends!

While thinking about the tornado damage I realized that as people are digging through the aftermath of the Ringle, WI tornado, any bedding and clothing they can salvage is going to be wet and/or dirty and they might have no way to clean things.

If anyone has need for things to be washed, I am available to pick things up, wash them, and return them, no charge.

If you know someone who has need of a washer and dryer, mine is available. This is probably not something on their mind at the moment, but if I can help someone save some of their belongings I'd be more than willing to help.

On Friday, August 17, a local neighborhood was hit by a tornado, with 75 houses and an elementary school significantly damaged. Initial reports are no injuries or deaths, thankfully. Our hearts go out to the victims in this difficult time.

As of now, emergency officials are asking for people to stay away from the neighborhood. So many people are willing to help, so we are sharing the link to a fund that was established for the victims.

Please listen to emergency officials, and stay away from the neighborhood. While most people are well meaning, turning people away and answering questions adds more for the residents and emergency officials to have to manage, taking their attention away from finishing assessments and making sure the area is safe.

If you're part of the blizzard, make sure you are keeping your furnace exhaust clear of snow. If it is buried or iced up, it can cause a build up of carbon monoxide in your home. Consider checking for your elderly or disabled neighbors as well. Also, remember to check those carbon monoxide detectors and smoke alarms regularly.
