24 hours later after chemical application. This is small scale. Just imagine what chemical applications to our lawns across our country is doing to our water and ground waters. RoundUp is still being sold and widely used. It’s Glyphosate and it’s poisoning our farmlands and food supply and is linked to cancer. What’s the answer? If we each individually stopped using Roundup it would help. If we accepted that a lawn with native plants like dandelions and clover instead of a perfect lawn without weeds. We all want our kids to play safely on the lawn and at our parks.

This infuriates me. The landscaper applied a chemical to the water’s edge and within minutes the water turned bright green. This is unacceptable. I watched a flock of baby ducks swim through the water.

Welcome to the Green Cays Wetland Boardwalk in Boynton Beach Florida - a 100 acre wetland preserve with a 1 1/2 mile boardwalk. You can see a vast variety of wild life including birds, alligators, turtles and butterflies. This place is truly a Florida gem with purple Pickerelweed covering the wetland. As a designer, nature has always been my inspiration.

Before and after with digital design. Our client wants a garden with a lot of color and a variety of perennials so something is always in bloom. She wants a garden that has movement with grasses and perennials that creep.

Often I’ll give clients a few options. Our client wants a low and neat garden with lots of color. I’ve included perennials (upright phlox, gallardia, candy tuft, coral bells and creeping phlox or ice plant) that will bloom throughout the warm months and color with annuals in May for an extra pop. “Trust the process.” Everything starts with digital design. Design shows everything in bloom at once when the perennials will bloom throughout the season. In the fall we can add bulbs for early spring color next spring. Before and after digital design. Client wanted specific plants like barberry, mugo pine and Karl forester grass. Repeating the plants in all the areas gives this desing a “put together” look.

Our client wanted a monochromatic color scheme with her annuals. Here is her front garden and back garden in August with so many flowers in bloom. I love the color of the hydrangeas in summer and fall.

True love…… Every garden needs a redbud. So many different varieties available both upright and weeping. The flowers last a month and the leaves are heart shaped in either green, bright green or burgundy. Definitely one of my favorite flowering trees.
