Community Spotlight: CATCH 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

We’re shining the spotlight on another organization doing important work in our community: CATCH.

Believing that housing is the foundation that makes everything else possible, CATCH is actively "creating key-turning moments," helping families and individuals move into housing by removing barriers such as deposits, first month’s rent, and urgent move-in costs, then providing the care and support that help them rebuild stability and thrive.

A few numbers that demonstrate the need for CATCH in our community:
🏠 Roughly 1,500 households are currently waiting for housing support across Southwest Idaho
🧑‍🧑‍🧒 Around 350 of those households are families with children
🫱🏻‍🫲🏼 In 2025, CATCH helped 440 neighbors move into housing, including 105 families and 208 children

With a background in advanced mechatronics and a passion for renewable energy, Casey is a great addition to our team. 💬 PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:
I am from Missoula, MT. I got my Advanced Mechatronics degree from CWI. I wanted to find a position in renewable energy when I finished, and I found a job at EGT Solar.

💬 MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT:
I enjoy problem-solving and think renewable energy is important for our planet.

💬 GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT:
After moving around a lot, finding Idaho, where I want to stay long term, was a huge achievement.

💬 FUN FACT:
I am colorblind.

Disc golfing, snowmobiling, and working on my cars.

We used a solar panel to power a camera inside a birdhouse.

Donna began having issues with her system, which was originally installed by another rooftop solar company. She was informed that the installer is now headquartered out of state and would be unable to service her system here in Idaho. So Donna contacted EGT Solar and left us this review.

🌎 Happy Earth Day, Idaho! 🌱

Did you know that a typical residential solar system eliminates three to four tons of CO2 annually? That’s the equivalent of planting over 100 trees, or taking a car off the road for 10,000 miles. Over the course of 25 years, just one system offsets a massive amount of carbon dioxide.

Since our company’s inception nearly 20 years ago, EGT Solar has helped drastically reduce emissions by installing solar systems in towns and communities across Idaho. Join us in celebrating these wins!

If the price increase is approved as filed, new rates would take effect June 1. Monthly power bills would increase by about 3.15%, or roughly $3.64, for a typical residential customer using 900 kilowatt-hours per month.

This news comes after two recent increases for residential customers: a 9.74% increase in January and a 3.73% increase in early 2025.

Idaho Power's request to raise rates may increase monthly bills by 3.15% for residential customers.
