BEFORE THE WALLS CLOSE, THE PLUMBING HAS TO BE RIGHT.

Rough-in is one of the most important stages of a plumbing system.

This is where the water lines, drain and waste piping, venting, fixture locations, and connections are installed and laid out before drywall and finishes cover everything up.

Every measurement matters here. Proper slope, correct venting, clean layout, secure piping, and accurate fixture placement all affect how the system performs once the home is finished.

A good rough-in helps prevent drainage issues, leaks, poor fixture placement, and expensive corrections later.

Most of this work will eventually disappear behind the walls but it’s the foundation of the plumbing system you’ll rely on every day.

We’re at the good part now 💭

FINAL TRIM-OUT IS WHERE THE PLUMBING STARTS TO LOOK FINISHED.

After the rough-in is complete, inspected, and the walls and finishes are in, the trim-out stage brings everything together.

During final trim-out, plumbers are typically installing and connecting:

Faucets and sinks
Toilets
Shower and tub trim
Freestanding tubs
Garbage disposals
Water heaters and final connections
Dishwasher and appliance hookups
Supply stops, traps, and finish hardware
Final testing for leaks, drainage, and proper operation

This stage is about more than appearance. Every fixture has to be connected correctly, sealed properly, aligned, and tested before the plumbing system is considered complete.

It’s the point where everything that was planned behind the walls finally becomes functional, finished, and ready to use.

Let the plumbing carry the design 🚽

This high-tank cistern toilet operates by gravity in a distinctly traditional way. Pull the chain, and the elevated cistern releases water through the exposed flush tube.

What makes this installation so distinctive is that the plumbing is not concealed. The exposed supply line, flush tube, fittings, and polished hardware are intentionally displayed, becoming an integral part of the design rather than disappearing behind the wall.

The result is a refined gentleman’s bathroom aesthetic, where even the plumbing becomes part of the statement.
