Some dining rooms are made to impress. We wanted this one to simply feel good to be in.

When we designed this space, the goal was to keep it refined without making it feel formal. The warm woods, soft color, and subtle pattern give it a relaxed quality that works just as well for everyday dinners as it does for entertaining.

That balance is something we care about at our Bellevue interior design studio. Beautiful spaces should still feel comfortable, personal, and easy to live in.

Sounds perfect, right?

It was - but there was one design challenge. How do you make a large open space feel cozy and intentional without putting up walls?

We created distinct zones for living, dining and cooking while keeping a consistent palette and visual flow throughout.

The living room became the heart of the home, with comfortable neutral sofas, a large leather ottoman and a textured blue rug creating warmth against the architecture.

Open doesn't have to mean cold. With the right furniture scale, materials, color and placement, you can have openness and intimacy.

The best design details aren't always the ones you notice first. They're the ones you feel.

The weight of a beautiful fabric.
The softness and layers of linens.
The way warm white can create calm.
The warmth of natural wood.
The way evening light hits stone.
The way natural lighting always sets the mood.

This project was never about giving our clients a completely different house. It was about helping them fall in love with their home again.

They had raised their family here. Celebrated holidays here. Created decades of memories here. Now they were entering a new chapter - with grandchildren, a beloved dog, more entertaining and a different vision for everyday life.

Our challenge?

Modernize the home without stripping away the character that made it meaningful.

We introduced lighter finishes, warm woods, tailored millwork, natural quartzite, hidden storage and high-performance fabrics - creating something that feels elevated but never precious.

Because good design doesn't erase a home's history. It makes room for what's next. That distinction matters enormously to us.

"How do you design a beach house without making it feel… beachy?”

This was one of the questions behind our Westport Beach House. We wanted the home to feel connected to its incredible coastal setting, but we didn't want to fill it with predictable nautical details.

Instead, we looked to the landscape for inspiration. And then we allowed the architecture and views to do some of the talking.

The kitchen became a perfect example: bold blue cabinetry adds personality while natural wood keeps the room grounded and warm.

The result feels coastal without being themed.
