Every good puddle starts at the rod.
This light puddle looks easy, just a few extra inches of fabric resting on the floor. The length behind it was decided when the hardware was chosen. Pinch pleat panels on rings are measured from the bottom of the ring down to the floor, so the height of the pole and the rings you pick both change where the hem lands. Choose the hardware late, and the puddle you planned can end up hovering an inch above the floor or drowning in extra fabric.
Thatโs why we encourage designers to settle the hardware before anyone pulls out a tape measure. Here, the panels hang from AriAยฎ designer metal hardware, and because the measurements started at the rings, the fabric settles right where it should.
Pro tip: Save puddles for panels your client wonโt open and close every day, since a dragging hem has to be fixed by hand. Then spec the hardware, send it to your workroom, and let them measure from there.
