UC Master Gardeners of Merced County “To extend research-based knowledge and information on home horticulture, pest management & sustainable landscape practices to the residents of California.

The Master Gardener program in Merced began in 2009 when a group of 11 volunteers completed training in neighboring Mariposa County. Today, there are nearly 50 volunteers that give many hours of their time each year staffing the gardening helpline and information booth, and giving lectures and demonstrations. Cathy showed over 30 of her personal houseplants, identified with their common and botanical names, grouped on a continuum of water care needs.
