It's almost that time when the leaves will begin to turn, the air will become chillier...and deer will start ruining your trees! They are espeically fond of young trees on your property, so now is the time to protect them.

Within a month or so, bucks will start marking their territory for the rut by rubbing their antlers against trees. Newly planted trees are especially vulnerable, particularly those 3" in caliper or smaller and trees with smooth bark.

A simple physical barrier or tree wrap can help prevent serious damage before the rubbing season gets underway.

A little protection now can save a young tree later. 🌳

Thinking about making a few changes to your landscape? Late summer is a good time to start planning.

Take a look around your property and make note of areas that could use a refresh, whether that means adding new plants, filling an empty space or reworking an existing bed. Planning now gives you time to make thoughtful choices before fall planting gets underway.

🌱 Good landscapes don't happen by accident. A little planning goes a long way.

A quick walk through your landscape can tell you a lot.

Chewed leaves, discoloration, spots or unusual growth can be early signs of insects or disease. Catching these problems early can help prevent bigger issues down the road.

Outdoor living spaces have continued to evolve as extensions of indoor spaces. More and more, the comforts we enjoy indoors are finding their way outside.

Outdoor sound systems are one example. The technology and sound quality have come a long way, making it easier to incorporate music into a patio, outdoor kitchen or other hardscape without compromising the design.

If you’re planning a hardscape project, it’s worth thinking about sound as part of the overall design. Speakers can be integrated into the space to add music and ambiance without becoming the focal point.

It’s one more detail that can make an outdoor space feel like an extension of your home.

Think your lawn is dead? There's a good chance it's just doing exactly what it's meant to do.

During stretches of heat and little rainfall, most Wisconsin lawns naturally go dormant. The grass turns brown to conserve moisture, but the roots are often still alive and healthy.

Before you reach for extra fertilizer or start planning a complete lawn renovation, give it some time.

Here's what your lawn needs right now:

🌱 Mow a little higher.

💧 Water deeply when conditions are dry.

⏳ Be patient.

As temperatures cool and we get a little more rain, many lawns will green up on their own.
