High recycled asphalt mix, or High RAM, is designed to use 40% or more recycled asphalt product while still meeting the performance expectations of a standard mix.

That does not happen by chance. It takes the right mix design, proper plant practices, and testing for strength, durability, and cold cracking to make sure the material can perform as intended.

A strong mill overlay starts with planning, coordination, and a crew that understands the details.

On University Avenue in Minneapolis, near Huntington Bank Stadium, our team is working on a 2026 Hennepin County mill overlay project that includes just under 50,000 tons of asphalt, approximately 400,000 square yards of overlay work, utility reconstructs, and concrete curb improvements.

Strong pavement starts long before the asphalt reaches the job site.

At Bituminous Roadways’ Prior Lake gravel pit, aggregates are produced for asphalt mix, concrete work, and road construction needs across the region. The site also supports recycling efforts by processing concrete and asphalt rubble into compactible base material.

It is a practical example of how quality, efficiency, and responsibility come together in the field. From extracting gravel to producing usable materials, every step supports the work our crews perform on roads, parking lots, and infrastructure projects throughout Minnesota.

Warm mix asphalt is one way Bituminous Roadways continues to improve how we work in the field and at the plant.

By using additives that allow asphalt to be produced and placed at lower temperatures, warm mix can support safer working conditions for crews, reduce energy use during production, and help limit greenhouse gas emissions.

It also supports better compactability, which helps create a denser, longer-lasting pavement.

From laboring and shoveling to running equipment, leading crews, and managing operations, that hands-on knowledge helps projects run smoothly and safely in the field.

On the Highway 12 paving project in Wayzata, our team supported Hoffman Construction during a weekend closure with a focused mill and overlay operation between Gleason Lake Road and Highway 101.

The work included a four-inch mill and overlay on the mainline, a two-inch overlay on the shoulders, ramp tie-ins, shoulder work, and echelon paving with multiple pavers running at the same time.

Projects like this take planning, coordination, and trust across the entire crew. From traffic impacts to production sequencing, every detail matters when the window is tight and the work has to be done safely and correctly.

That is where experience shows up.

On the Highway 12 paving project in Wayzata, our crews helped support a fast-paced weekend operation where efficiency and coordination were critical.

With multiple paving operations happening within a limited closure window, every part of the process had to work together. Milling, paving, tie-ins, shoulder work, trucking, and traffic management all needed to stay aligned to keep the project moving safely and on schedule.

Large roadway projects are more than just paving. They are a combination of planning, communication, and ex*****on across every stage of the work.

When every moving piece comes together, progress happens quickly.
