Not every painting project begins with a surface that is ready for primer.

This building had heavy rust along the roofline and other areas that required additional cleaning and preparation. The crew began by pressure washing the building, including the vinyl siding that needed cleaning but would not be painted.

The next steps include more detailed preparation, taping and bonding primer before the new coating can be applied.

When a building has this much wear, the work completed before painting is especially important.

We’ll give you another look at this project as the work progresses.

We’ve shown you the transformation and the work behind it. Now, Mike walks through the building and points out the details of the finished project.

The steel framework was once red with rust. Now, the framework and underside of the roof are completely covered with an industrial coating. Worn insulation has been patched for a neater appearance, and the exterior is nearly finished in off-white with dark gray accents.

The crew stopped the side-wall coating where the owner plans to install metal, allowing this phase of the project to work with what comes next.

Mike calls it progression—and from the rusty framework to the finished surfaces, this building shows exactly what he means.

After repairs, pressure washing and primer, this old farmhouse roof is ready for its topcoat.

The crew is applying Silver-Brite heat-reflective industrial aluminum roof coating across the metal surface. The bucket truck provides access while the team works across the roof to achieve consistent coverage.

The silver finish helps protect the metal while restoring the bright, traditional appearance that suits this farmhouse. It is a new layer of protection for a home with years of history behind it.

Some of the most damaging corrosion on a grain bin can begin in areas that are difficult to see.

Grain can cake against the underside of the roof and hold moisture against the metal. Over time, that trapped moisture contributes to rust and deterioration.

On these bins, the crew pressure washed the roofs and addressed the affected areas before applying an industrial aluminum roof coating.

Mike takes us in for a closer look at why these areas need attention and how the coating helps protect the metal.

If your grain bins are showing rust or surface wear, give Mike a call.

Earlier this month, we showed you the before-and-after transformation. Now, take a closer look at the work behind it.

Years of exposure had left the steel framework rusty and worn. Before coating began, the crew pressure cleaned the structure, completed extensive sanding, addressed problem areas and applied primer.

These progress photos show the steel framework and underside of the roof receiving a dark gray Sherwin-Williams industrial coating. The side walls will receive a lighter finish with dark gray trim, and replacement corner pieces will complete the needed repairs.

Restoring a structure like this involves more than changing its color.

It means addressing the deterioration underneath before applying the finished coating.

This old farmhouse roof needed more than a fresh coat.

Loose metal, loose seams and problem areas along the ridge cap had to be addressed before the coating work could begin. After making the necessary repairs, the crew pressure washed the roof and began priming the surface.

The goal is to protect the metal while bringing back the clean, shiny appearance that fits the home’s original character.

This is what roof restoration looks like before the topcoat goes on.

What goes into restoring a metal roof?

Mike walks through this project while the crew applies a white rubberized roof coating system. Before application began, the skylights were carefully taped off and the roof was prepared to help the coating adhere and provide consistent coverage.

If your commercial or agricultural roof is showing its age, Mike can evaluate its condition and help determine whether restoration is an option.

This month, we’re taking a closer look at the work behind this building’s transformation.

These before-and-after photos show the difference, but the finished appearance is only part of the story. Pressure cleaning, sanding, repairs, primer and industrial coatings all played a role in restoring the structure.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll show you more of the process—and the details behind the finished result.

Have a commercial or agricultural building that needs attention? Give Mike a call.

Every great finish starts with careful preparation.

Before a protective coating system is applied, every surface must be properly prepared. From inspections and repairs to surface preparation, these early steps help create a coating system that's built to last.

Taking the time to do the job right today helps protect the building for years to come.

Whether it's a commercial facility or an agricultural building, preparation is one step we never rush.
