Waterproofing a basement is hard work. But, our guys do it without complaining about the heavy debris and jackhammering. These photos are a before and after of a basement completed in Lockport. This basement had pilasters on the wall. Waters Basement Services installed drain tile, divert, and our wall panel system notice what a great job our guys did with the panels around the pilaster. A wet basement is often caused by poor grading and clogged gutters:

Hydrostatic pressure occurs by (negative pitch) soil sloping toward your home, and water presses against the basement walls, causing the weight against the walls to exceed their capacity. Bowing walls occur most often due to the force of hydrostatic pressure. During winter, the ground freezes, the expanding water in the soil will press the soil against the basement walls. In spring and summer, the earth will lose water and shrink—freezing and thawing of soil cause inward and outward movement on basement walls—correct negative pitch by installing window wells and re-grading with topsoil.

As important, have your gutter water shed away from your foundation. The fall brings rain and leaves falling. Keeping your gutters clean and free of debris is vital to help keep your basement dry. When gutters become clogged, rain and snowmelt cannot flow freely throughout the gutter system, resulting in overflowing gutters. Overflowing gutters that spill over the side cause water to collect along the foundation. When this happens, water can pool around the foundation. Over time this repeated overflow from your gutters will cause a trench the length of your gutters, not allowing water to shed away from your basement, and may cause water to enter your basement. Cleaning your gutters and downspouts may be necessary more than once a season. Therefore, we recommend you have your gutters inspected at least four times a year.

Waters Basment Services, Inc. installed an outside entrance for the basement door completed in Lewiston, NY. Our guys Cody, Kevin, and Bob, the owner of Waters Basement Services, Inc., worked together, rebuilt the foundation, and installed a steel Gordon basement door. Great work, guys! The homeowners were impressed not only on the finished door but also on how professional, knowledgeable, teamwork, and clean our whole team is.
