As we head into another year of business, we’ve found ourselves reflecting on just how much life has changed over the past year.

We’ve grown our construction business, taken on new challenges, expanded the work we do, and have some exciting projects ahead for 2027. Along the way, we’ve also opened Thrap Market Company in Old Town Eureka and found a clearer understanding of who we are and what we want our businesses to represent.

There will always be more growth, long days, new challenges, and moments when we question what on earth we’re doing. But through it all, we’ve become more certain of what matters to us.

We’re not flashy. We like things simple, timeless, and intentional. We’re rooted in our family, our community, and the place we call home.

We’re more than a construction company. We’re your neighbors. We’re a family name that has been part of this community for generations. We’re raising our children here, building our future here, and taking pride in the work we leave behind.

And we wanted our brand to reflect that.

So, we’re making a little change. Nothing drastic. Just a simpler, more thoughtful representation of who we are and where we’re headed.

Over time, you’ll start to see our updated branding on our trucks, equipment, job sites, and everything in between.

As our businesses have grown, we’ve also wanted them to feel more connected. Construction and the Market may seem like two very different worlds, but to us, they’re part of the same story. Both built by our family, supported by our community, and rooted in the belief that the details matter. One wouldn’t be what it is today without the other.

This next chapter isn’t about becoming something different. It’s about staying true to who we’ve always been.

We’re grateful for every client who has trusted us with their home, property, or project, and for the community that continues to support our family and our businesses.

Here we observe a small business owner on his day off.

Just kidding.

He would much rather be running an excavator.

Unfortunately, nobody told him that owning a construction company also involves estimates, paperwork, and working seven days a week.

He started a business so he could be his own boss.

Turns out, his boss is a real as***le.

Not too hot, not too cold. Just about perfect Humboldt County weather to put on a new roof.

There’s something about kicking off a new project, especially when it’s for a family we love.

We’re starting from the top with a new roof, followed by new siding and windows. A much-needed exterior overhaul to get this home buttoned up, weather-tight, and ready for another Humboldt winter.

Not every job is glamorous, but it all needs to get done.

Today’s project installing a french drain to get water moving away from the house and where it belongs.

The best part is when you finish a drainage job and the homeowner is excited for it to rain.

It’s that time of year again. Winter isn’t far and getting ahead of drainage problems now beats dealing with them in the middle of a storm.

When your spotter shows up in a ballerina dress and you park your trailer on your friend’s property because it’s next door to the job… that’s when you know you’re fully family owned and operated.

Insulation is arguably one of the worst jobs on a construction site. No one really wants to do it.

But it’s also one of the most exciting milestones.

Insulation means everything that needs to live inside the walls is there. Rough plumbing, electrical and mechanical are done, inspections are happening, and we finally get to start closing things up.

Drywall is next, then finishes start going in, and suddenly a project that has been foundation, framing and structure for months starts looking like the space we’ve all been working toward.

In most cases, once we hit insulation, we’re about three months from the finish line.

So while it might be one of the worst jobs on site, it’s definitely one we’re happy to see.

Some days look like plans, site meetings and finish selections. Other days look like excavators, framing and a whole lot of dirt. Today was a little bit of everything.

Turns out when you’re working 7 days a week, 14 hour days, stopping to take pictures doesn’t always make the list.

We kept saying, “it’s just our busy summer.”

Except fall is looking pretty busy too. And winter isn’t exactly slowing down.

So I guess we don’t have a busy season anymore. We’re just busy.

And we’re definitely not mad about it.
