⛔️Heads up to anyone using TaskRabbit to hire or contract help 🔨
A class action lawsuit was just filed against TaskRabbit for hiding fees from customers at checkout. They advertise a bold hourly rate, then hit you with a “Trust & Support Fee” (anywhere from 5–15% of your total) right before you pay — with zero warning upfront.
One guy booked a $49/hr cleaning job and got slapped with an extra $28.88 at checkout. Another person paid a $99 surprise fee on a $279 job.
The lawsuit calls it “drip pricing” … luring you in with a low rate, then inflating the real cost at the last second. It’s now being challenged under federal FTC rules AND California consumer law.
If you’ve ever booked through TaskRabbit and saw a surprise fee at checkout — you could be part of the national class action. No action needed now. If it settles, affected users will be notified.
As a contractor I use the platform too. This doesn’t affect Tasker pay — it’s a client-side fee. But transparency matters, and it’s good to know your rights. Have you ever used Taskrabbit? As a client it a contractor??
