Welcome to the first edition of AAA Pest Control vs. The Roach Invasion! 😂

Every Saturday, we’re going to share a new comic featuring our family and showing a little behind-the-scenes look at how we actually perform different pest control services.

This week: German roach clean-outs! We don’t just walk in and spray everything. Our process includes flushing them out of their hiding spots, vacuuming live roaches and egg cases, applying a long-lasting residual treatment, and strategically placing gel bait to help eliminate the colony.

🍃🐜 FUN FACT FRIDAY! Did you know leafcutter ants don’t actually eat the leaves they carry? They use those leaf pieces to grow a special fungus inside their colony — and that is what they eat!

Here in South Texas, leafcutter ants can make some seriously impressive trails and can strip plants surprisingly fast.

🧐 MYTH OR FACT? Do earwigs really crawl into your ears while you sleep and lay eggs?

If you grew up in South Texas, chances are someone warned you about these creepy-looking bugs! 😅

The truth? It’s just an old wives’ tale.

✅ Earwigs do NOT crawl into people’s ears to lay eggs.
✅ They do NOT have stingers.
✅ Those “stingers” on the back are actually pincers used for defense and handling prey.
✅ They’re usually found in dark, damp areas around the home.

While they may look intimidating, earwigs are mostly a nuisance pest and are often a sign that moisture is attracting them to the area.

🪲 FUN FACT FRIDAY: THE TRUTH ABOUT KISSING BUGS 🪲

If you’ve spent any time on social media, you’ve probably seen posts claiming kissing bugs are causing hospitalizations, heart problems, or even death.

So what’s the truth?

Kissing bugs can carry a parasite that causes Chagas disease, which is a real and potentially serious illness. However, simply being bitten by a kissing bug does NOT automatically mean you’ll get sick.

In fact, transmission is relatively uncommon and occurs when infected bug droppings enter the bite wound, eyes, mouth, or broken skin—not from the bite itself.

✅ Chagas disease is real.
✅ Kissing bugs should be taken seriously.
✅ Finding one doesn’t mean you should panic.

The best defense is prevention:
• Seal cracks and gaps around your home
• Reduce unnecessary outdoor lighting at night
• Keep pet areas clean
• Contact a pest professional if you’re seeing them around your property

🦟🏠 TERMITE THURSDAY 🏠🦟

Have you been finding piles of tiny wings around your windows, doors, or lights lately?

Those wings don’t come from flying ants—they may be coming from termite swarmers.

Termite swarmers are the reproductive members of a mature termite colony.

Their mission is simple: fly out, find a mate, shed their wings, and attempt to start a brand-new colony.

Here’s the interesting part…

For most termites, that colony has often been growing underground for several years before it produces swarmers.

Once they land, they break off their wings, pair up, and begin building a new colony beneath the soil.

That’s why you usually only find the wings!

🚨 If you’re finding discarded wings INSIDE your home, it could be a warning sign that termites are active in or around the structure.

With all the recent rain in the Rio Grande Valley, we’re seeing termite swarms all across the area.

🌧️ WING WEDNESDAY 🌧️

With all the recent rain across the Valley, we’re seeing increased activity from both termite swarmers and leaf cutter ants.

At first glance they can look similar, but one can indicate a termite colony attacking your home while the other is usually just looking for leaves to take back to the nest.
