Today was a special day at Phoenix Roofing Systems. We had the honor of meeting this year’s Operation Rooftop Rescue recipients, Ron and Sue Wheeler, and officially taking the next steps toward providing them with a new roof.

Ron’s story is one of courage, service, and dedication. In July 1969, Ron served our country during the Vietnam War aboard an OV-1 Mohawk aircraft. As an enlisted man, Ron operated the Side Looking Airborne Radar (SLAR), helping locate enemy positions and provide critical information to ground forces. It was dangerous work, but Ron answered the call to serve with bravery and commitment.

After his military service, Ron and Sue continued giving back to their community. Since moving to Jasper in 2005, they have dedicated their time supporting fellow veterans through organizations like the American Legion and the Pickens County Veterans Memorial Park Foundation.

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give back to a couple who has spent their lives serving others. Providing Ron and Sue with a safe, secure roof is our small way of saying thank you for your service and sacrifice.

A huge thank you to our partners at IKO Industries and Folds of Honor for helping make Operation Rooftop Rescue possible and allowing us to continue honoring veterans and first responders in our community.

Accepted documents may include:
✅ DD214
✅ Military ID or VA ID
✅ Department-issued ID/badge
