Spooky-season colors can be dramatic without making your home feel like a haunted house. 🎃

Palette 1 brings the warmth with Cavern Clay, Creamy and Iron Ore. Palette 2 leans darker with Rookwood Dark Green, Carnelian and Shoji White.

Before choosing, paint real samples directly on the surface and check them in the morning, afternoon and evening—deep colors can shift dramatically as the light changes.

Which would you use at home: Warm & Witchy or Dark & Moody?

The best-looking paint jobs rarely start with paint.

Before coating begins, the surfaces that are not changing need a plan too—windows, doors, cabinets, counters, fixtures, floors, and furniture. Careful protection helps keep the work zone controlled and adjacent finishes protected.

Porches, paint, and live music—three things that feel right at home in Greenville. 🎶

This is our third year sponsoring Hampton-Pinckney PorchFest. As business owners and music lovers, Savannah and I are excited to help bring live music to one of Greenville’s most historic neighborhoods.

Historic homes also remind us that a lasting paint job begins long before the first coat. Older woodwork, windows, porches, and layered coatings deserve careful evaluation, sound repairs, and thoughtful preparation.

Join us Sunday, October 18, from 1:00–6:00 PM for live music on historic porches throughout the Hampton-Pinckney neighborhood. The event is free and open to the community.

🍂 October’s Color of the Month: Plum Brown SW 6272

Deep, moody, and perfect for fall. Plum Brown brings the drama of a dark color without feeling as stark as black, with subtle purple undertones that give it plenty of warmth and character.

We love it for powder rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, or even a bold color-drenched space.

Would you use Plum Brown in your home? 👀

We take pride in the preparation and professional application process, ensuring that every board is protected and looking its best again. If your exterior siding is showing signs of wear, we would love to help you restore your home's curb appeal. Reach out to Painter1 today for a consultation!

Wallpaper can completely transform a room, and we had a wonderful time working on these projects in Simpsonville, South Carolina! We focused on precision wallpaper installation to bring new texture and style into these bathroom and closet spaces. It is always encouraging to see how a simple, professional update like fresh wallpaper can elevate the entire feel of a home. If you have been thinking about a pattern or style you would love to see on your walls, we would be happy to help you get the job done right. Send us a message to discuss your next home refresh!

A fresh coat is only as dependable as the metal underneath it. When an existing coating is chipped or flaking, painting directly over it does not restore the lost adhesion below.

The durable path is to address loose material, prepare sound edges, leave the surface clean and dry, and use a compatible primer and finish system for the specific metal and its condition. Product instructions also determine the right application conditions and recoat window.

Save this before repainting exterior railings, stairs, or other metalwork.

Game-day color can feel spirited without turning the room into a theme space. The 60/30/10 rule gives every shade a job: use a warm neutral across the largest surfaces, a strong blue as the supporting color, and orange in smaller accents—or flip the last two.

The result still feels bold, but the room stays balanced and easy to live with after the final whistle.

Which gets the 10% accent in your room: orange or blue?

That brighter patch is a real example of flashing: a touch-up reflecting light differently from the surrounding wall. Even a close color match can remain visible because color is only part of the match.

Sheen, paint age, wall porosity, mixing, and the tool used can all change how a touch-up reflects light. For the best chance of blending, use the same paint and sheen, stir it thoroughly, match the original roller or brush, use minimal paint, feather the edge, and let it dry fully before judging.

Sometimes the cleanest result is repainting the wall from corner to corner—and that is not a failed touch-up. It is simply how a continuous finish behaves.

Save this checklist before your next touch-up.

A beautiful deck finish starts long before the stain can opens.

Cleaning, preparation, dry time, and checking how the wood absorbs product all help the final color look more even and perform the way it should. The right process depends on the wood and the coating already on it—but skipping prep is never the shortcut it seems.

Save this for deck-maintenance season. Which sign do you usually notice first: fading or uneven wear?
