Jason Darling is the sole owner of Darling Forestry, LLC. I grew up in the Mason area and received my bachelor’s degree in Forestry from Michigan State University; in addition I received a professional certificate in Watershed Management from MSU. During my time at MSU I was actively involved in the Forestry Club helping initiate and organize maple syrup production. I also accelerated my knowledge

of the Christmas tree industry by contributing in several research projects dealing with nutrient demands in Frasier fir. I have worked at various Forestry agencies throughout the state and have the experience to meet any and all your land management needs. I specialize in several aspects of land management. I have many years of experience managing large scale Christmas tree plantations and tailored skills managing woodlots for maple syrup production. The primary focus of my experience has been within the traditional field of Forestry. I have spent several years inventorying forested land, marking timber, writing timber sale proposals and timber sale administration. Realizing the ecological importance of watershed protection I chose to enhance my knowledge about watershed management by seeking out a professional watershed certificate through Michigan State University. Maintaining a healthy forested system or grassland is essential to ensure watershed integrity and water quality; I have the utilities to install watershed buffers via grasses or planted trees. Forest management activities have the potential to hinder watershed quality, however if you seek out the professional assistance of Darling Forestry, LLC you can sustainably manage your land while ensuring the overall health of your ecosystem. Join us at a volunteer tree and shrub planting event at the Bengel Wildlife Center from 9am-1pm on Saturday, April 18th.

Trees, planting tools, and gloves will be provided but bring a shovel if you have one. We will meet in the circle drive just inside of the entrance. This event is co-sponsored by grants from the Consumers Energy Foundation and the Michigan Forest Association.

After we are done cleaning up, stick around for a FREE hotdog (or veggie dog) cookout! We will be grilling up dogs served with chips and drinks for our hard working volunteers.

You MUST RSVP to [email protected] so we know how much food to obtain.

My friend’s mission is wrapping up in Kosovo in the coming months. This is a great way to help support our local military members as they have spent so much time away from their families so we can remain safe and free. We welcome them home with a banquette being held on their behalf in Lansing, MI.
