Staying sharp in the field starts with making time to learn together.

Our field team recently came together for a field safety discussion focused on fall hazards, OSHA requirements, and the proper use of fall protection systems.

These conversations are an important part of keeping expectations clear, sharing knowledge across project teams, and making sure safety stays part of how we plan and execute the work every day.

Strong teams build safer projects.

5 Candle Street | Mission Accomplished!
Nearly a century after it was built, a piece of Nantucket history is back in active use.

The project team, including National Grid, The Town of Nantucket, McKenzie Engineering, JLL and PEARL, successfully combined their efforts and commitment to restore 5 Candle Street, part of the historic former power station.

The work focused on restoration and accurate recreation of the building’s exterior details, with extensive masonry and structural repairs to make it look original. Interior improvements included modernization of the electrical service, lighting, storage solutions and functional overhead doors with a newly placed slab on grade.

The goal was straightforward: deliver a modern, safe, functional storage resource, without losing the character or historical significance of the landmark.

The work was completed ahead of schedule, allowing the lot to reopen with valet parking and bag check services for downtown Nantucket businesses, residents, and visitors.

We’re proud to have been part of it and grateful to work with the team that brought it together!

Behind the Build

When PEARL Superintendent Ron Oliveira first stepped into the building that would become Union Point Athletic Club, there was a lot to work through.

Originally built by the U.S. Navy and vacant for more than a decade, the building came with infrastructure from another era and existing conditions that revealed themselves as work progressed.

A decommissioned steam heating system meant removing a five-ton boiler and cast iron piping throughout the building before new rooftop HVAC systems could be craned into place.

Inside, concrete block partition walls presented another challenge, with new electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems carefully routed through the existing structure.

As Ron puts it: “Many small challenges arose daily, as expected when breathing new life into a building that had been abandoned for more than a decade.”

That’s where experience in the field matters. Understand what’s there. Work closely with the trades. Find the best way forward. Keep the project moving.

Today, it’s a 13,000 SF high-performance athletic training facility, with much of the work behind that transformation now hidden behind the walls.

Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Early Childhood Center | Breaking Ground.

The PEARL team joined the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe to mark the start of construction on its new Early Childhood Center on Tribal lands here in Mashpee.

The 6,650 SF facility will provide dedicated space for the Tribe’s youngest members to learn and grow, with classrooms for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, a multipurpose room, and supporting spaces for families, educators, and staff. As the Tribe shared at the groundbreaking, the center represents an investment in its children, families, and future generations, creating a place grounded in community, culture, and care.

As a Mashpee-based builder, we are proud to have been entrusted with a project right here in the community we call home.

From soil improvements and slab-on-grade construction to structural steel, wood trusses, and curtain wall systems, there's real technical work ahead to bring this building out of the ground.

We are grateful for the Tribe’s trust in our team and look forward to bringing their vision to life.

Union Point Athletic Club | Project Complete.

13,000 SF of existing fitness space, reworked into a high-performance indoor sports training center in Weymouth.

New turf, strength and conditioning areas. Locker rooms and showers. Upgraded mechanical and life-safety systems. Specialty athletic flooring throughout.

Getting here required extensive interior demolition, new mechanical and fire protection infrastructure, underground plumbing, specialty athletic flooring, and careful coordination across trades.

The result is a training facility built around how athletes use the space, with the infrastructure to support it.

A great project and a strong team effort from start to finish!

Team Spotlight | Meet Kevin!

Kevin brings an engineer's eye and builder's instincts to his role as Assistant Superintendent at PEARL. Raised in a construction family and educated in mechanical engineering at the University of Rhode Island, he enjoys turning plans into reality while keeping projects safe, efficient, and moving forward.

What he enjoys most is solving challenges before they become problems. Working alongside the team, he finds practical solutions that keep quality and craftsmanship at the forefront.

Outside of work, Kevin stays just as active: hunting, fishing, training in jiu jitsu, or spending time with his wife Emily and their dog.

1,587 lbs. 9 feet long. 8 inches thick. Solid stone.

At Cape Cod Residence a single-piece stone trough sink too large and too heavy for a doorway — so it went through a window instead, lifted by crane, guided in by a rigging crew.

No shortcuts on a piece like this. Just the right equipment, the right sequence, and the team that planned for it before the first truck arrived.

This is the part of the build no one sees in the finished photos. It's also the part that matters most.
