Fixing a split door jamb isn't a tough job, the advantage of an experienced carpenter is doing it in the least invasive way.
This style of jamb is actually two separate pieces, and removing the stop moulding allows one side to be replaced. Only removing a single piece of trim in the process means less cost, less work, and less paint or finish work.
By being efficient an experienced carpenter can save you time and money in the end.
