Designed to meet the evolving needs of a growing family, The Loft ADU is a modern living space situated above a functional three-bay garage. The addition creates a multi-purpose retreat for college-age children, visiting friends, and extended family, while also serving as a flexible workout and guest space.

Congratulations to Steve Laput on his one-year work anniversary at kcs ARCHITECTS! Steve’s hard work and dedication over the past year have been a huge help to our team, and we look forward to his contributions in the years ahead.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University and is a licensed architect with three decades of experience leading projects for commercial clients, including both new construction and phased occupied renovations. As a Senior Architect, Steve collaborates with clients to help them transform their ideas into space and works side-by-side with them as design concepts evolve into built form. With a unique talent for managing technically challenging projects, Steve is passionate about navigating complexity and ensuring that budgets and schedules are met without losing sight of the big picture.  For Steve, architecture is an amazing blend of art, science, sculpture, and craftsmanship. He enjoys continuously learning about all these things to improve his own craft. His passion is figuring out how to design buildings that are both efficient and elegant.

Steve currently lives in Brattleboro, VT with his husband and their two cats (Lucky and Faust) and they have two grown sons who are in the construction industry. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, gardening, endless home renovations, and beekeeping.

The street entrance of the MoCo Arts building in downtown Keene, NH. What had been a vacant building, is now a performing arts complex full of life, with window front dance studios, and a street side courtyard for the young arts program.
The building is designed such that it both honors and differentiates itself from the historic buildings of Keene’s Historic District, as encouraged by the design guidelines of the Historic District Commission. This organization brings a lot of life, art, and culture to the downtown area, which will positively impact the surrounding businesses, while enhancing the existing neighborhood.

Eco-Therapy at the Hill House:
The concept of shinrin-yoku (forest bathing or forest therapy) was developed in Japan in the 1980’s. People who spend time in natural settings, particularly under the canopies of trees, will experience positive emotional, physiological, and psychological effects.
