We had the honor of hosting the groundbreaking for Jefferson Fire Protection District #1's new firehouse this past Monday. The ceremony marked the beginning of construction on a desperately needed facility, with completion expected in fall 2027.
You could feel the excitement in the air. The site of the new station sits directly across the road from the current one, making the moment especially meaningful. From where we stood, we could see the outdated station, a building that can barely fit today's fire trucks, while standing on the ground where the department's future will take shape. Board members, firefighters, volunteer firefighters, and their families gathered to celebrate this long-awaited milestone. Their passion for the project was unmistakable. After years of hoping for a station that meets their needs and better serves the community, that hope is finally becoming a reality.
These are truly remarkable people. We are humbled by every individual who sets aside their own needs and answers the call to help others. They are family members, friends, and neighbors, and no group could be more deserving of a facility built to support the important work they do. Together with Johannes Construction, and the project's other consultants, we are proud to help bring Jefferson Fire Protection District No. 1 into a new era of service.
